"Rm5 or lower is possible"
This was the level in 2008. The Dow fell to under 7,000 points, KLCI was under 800 points. It would be an extremely severe recession. Every one will face extreme hardship. Do you want this to happen?

Sharp falls on Wall Street will drive Top Glove to below RM1 tomorrow.

I sold several thousand TNB shares today not because of its poor fundamentals but because sharp falls on Wall Street has badly affected local sentiment. I will buy back after a 30 to 40 sen drop.

Small investors seemed to be in a state of panic today and drove Cepat's share price all the way down to 84 sen a share. Fear will drive people to behave irrationally. Even if Cepat's profit remains the same as last year, it will still earn 17.4 sen a share, translating into a PE of less than 5.

The four Investment Banks which have "sell" call for TNB are all foreign based. They should have issued "sell" calls for US stocks. The Dow, Nasdaq and S&P component stocks are all trading at an average PE of around 50 even after many drastic falls.

A spike in the price of coal/oil/natural gas to generate electricity without a corresponding increase in tariffs would adversely affect Tenaga's bottom line. However, the company had stated that this has no effect on its business operations and financial positions. It is obvious that Tenaga would be duly compensated by the government.

"When company reducing the dividend, something is wrong somewhere........"
I didn't sense anything was wrong. Tenaga made 60+sen a share in 2020 and 2021. It distributed 80sen a share as dividend for 2020 (22sen + 58sen) and 40sen a share for 2021. It paid more dividend than it earned for 2020, this is not sustainable. As the company had explained, it needed a capital expenditure of between RM20 to RM30 billion for the coming several years. I suppose that was the main reason for the dividend reduction and not something else.

No need to cut loss. It has already dropped by over 85% from its peak. Better to wait and see and hope for a rebound. See, no panic selling today. If it hasn't reached its nadir yet, it is quite close already.

yong1985cm, As far as I know, should TNB incur additional costs in the production of electricity due to the spike in the costs of coal/gas/oil, it can request for tariff increases. Should its request be rejected, it should be duly compensated by the government. Who do you think pay for the tariff cuts offered to household users the last 2 years? Certainly not TNB.

Stormkking, EPF derives most of its profit from its overseas investments and as you know, the US and Europeans stock markets have been faring badly this year. Hence EPF is unlikely to pay its members 6.1% dividends again this year. If you are not greedy and are content with a return of around 10% annually, then Maybank could be a good investment.

Hopefully minority shareholders don't have to accept the much talked about 60 to 80 sen a share offer should there be a privatization of MRCB, instead the coming GE would propel MRCB's share price to way beyond 80 sen a share.

You are assuming that I would cling on to my Maybank shares irrespective of the share price it has spiked to. I would call myself a silly investor instead of a prudent investor.
"you can track the price in 2008 and 2020...how sharply it fell."
Maybank fell to RM3.60 in 2009 and RM7.00 two years ago. Public Bank was trading at around 40% of Maybank's share price then. In the run up to any GE, Maybank should perform better than Public Bank.

I know that PB has always commanded a "premium valuation" over MB and I also know the reasons.. This has existed for decades. Unless this "premium valuation" widens, which is not likely, I believe MB is still a better bet considering its far superior dividend yield.

ken2004, Top Glove's net profit so far was RM270++million, not RM300++million. Just wait patiently for another 3+ months and you will know how much the company would make for financial year ending 31/8/2022. No need to get agitated.

"Is this fair?"
It is unfair but what can small investors do? TA Enterprise, with an NTA of RM2.60 was privatized about two years ago at 66 sen a share. If someone had wanted to take control of the company, I am sure the major share holders would demand at least RM3 to RM4 a share.

These bunch of directors won't do anything proactive. After divesting Keck Seng's stake in Parkway Holdings about a decade ago, instead of buying some properties in Singapore or bought some Singapore bank shares which by now could have doubled or tripled in value, they increased Keck Seng's cash holdings in US and Singapore dollars. I have kept some Keck Seng shares for 25 years, it looks like I have to keep them for another 25 years.

"I don't think maybank annualized total return is better than public bank............"
Maybank is trading at a PE of 12.74 versus Public Bank's 15.74 and a dividend yield of 6.5% versus Public Bank's 3.3%. Logically, companies with higher dividend yields should also command higher PEs. Should investors decide one day that Maybank should trade at a PE higher than Public Bank, then there is a lot of room for its share price to go up.

CPO price has stayed above RM5,000 a ton for 4 months and above RM6,000 a ton for almost two months. The war in Ukraine won't end so early and CPO price is unlikely to dip below RM5,000 a ton this year. CPO price averaged under RM4,000 a ton last year and Cepat still earned 17.4 sen a share. Even assuming there is no increase in crop production, Cepat is expected to earn much, much more this financial year.

"MRCB NTA is RM 1.00, the privatization pricetag should be at least 85c."
I hope EPF would take MRCB's NTA into consideration should it decide to privatize the company. Don't be surprised if minority shareholders are only offered 60 sen a share or less. Remember the privatization of TA Enterprise several years ago? TA had an NTA of RM2.60 but minority shareholders were only offered RM0.66 a share and all the relevant government authorities happily approved the deal. Karambubai minority shareholders also didn't get a good deal.
