Dear Haan, I suggest you sort the information according to highest profit gain % sequence so that everyone is excited to see who is top scorer currently. Thank you for your good work.
Really appreciate a supportive person like you in i3. OTB is right, sorting the % is great for everyone.
A lot of of participants competing with each other can see their current standing. I believe there some who competes with their own self *like me* or have their own personal target. All and all, it is good to know how you stand against mass public in regards to investment.
@Mr. Tan: I had created something the folks out there. I think this can serve as a benchmark for the participants. http://klse.i3investor.com/servlets/pfs/42872share.jsp let me know if I should change the title or anything. I will create another for the self managed guys or I should incorporate into the same portfolio?
Interestingly if all 56 participants are fund managers for some investment firm (akin to mutual fund) they are performing better than the market since 31st December 2014 (I assumed all shares are bought on or before that day); where Bursa has drop 0.6% (1761.25 vs 1750.36(at the time of writing)) whereas 56 participants total combined portfolio has ROI of 6%.
@ss20_20: For the weekly ranking the self manage is also incorporated into the Main file. I need to split it into two workbook if not too many sheets and excel will crash. I will include the shared portfolio too.
Obviously I can't updated it weekly but I will try. so if there is any volunteer please LINE me or any other messaging apps; I will add the edit rights to the google docs. LINE:haanloong
Hello, Mr. Tan. this are my pick of the year 2015 the reason of my pick are conclusion of many comments (on discussion threads) from each of the counter, and some minimum fundamental analysis, the price of each share can be the closing price on 20/1/2015
hi haan , thanks a lot for the update . can please sort the ranking for the first 56 participants information separately according to highest profit gain % sequence . because i find out there are participants in top 10 list , picked the counters on later date but using the price of year end closed . seem not fair to many to include them . just a small suggestion .
This is cheating. It is ok to enter late. But enter on 15 January 2015 and used 31 dec 2014 prices as original cost gave the cheater a massive 15% overnight gain
Cheating is cheating, no matter how you explained it
This really jeopardize the competition. Next year who wants to participate in the competition anymore ?
Let's put it this way - to the players wanting to join, why don't you choose stocks that have lost >20% in value since 31 Dec 2014, deemed 'undervalued' and then see if you end up winning?
Use closing prices when you enter, and you can enter whenever you like, even 6 months into the year when its certain what the effects of oil price decline, declining RM has on Malaysian companies
received dividend from 1) INSAS Ex date 23/1/15, 18,800 units x RM 0.01 = RM188 ( Payment date 25/2/15) 2) MYEG Ex date 06/1/15, 7,000 units x RM 0.02 = RM140 ( Payment date 06/2/15)
This competition needs to be on a risk-adjusted-return basis. Then true performance can be measured.
As it is, 90% of picks are obscure, risky small caps with no moats. Any company that has revenues of less than RM200m can be wiped out easily - if you own an SME you'd know.
This also to eliminate the dimwits with just a one or two picks, or those littered with call options.
Hi KW and OTB - hope you are doing fine. Have not been in i3 for quite a while but will gladly compile the results as requested. Give me a short while.
RESULTS AFTER Round 1 Category A -The Main Competition (56 participants) - a very interesting contest with a total of 87 contestants in the two categories - thanks to KW Tan for taking the effort to organize and OTB for sponsoring the prizes - bs1688 is at the top of the rankings at the end of the first month with 25.1% gains - bb55 is a close second, just less than 2 percentage points away - not surprisingly, OTB is third at the moment
Category B - The Self-Managed Portfolio (21 participants) - in this section, the honors go to yeongyih76 with a return of 28.4%, even higher bs1688 in Category A - a distant second comes ACELEE, with a yield of 16.3% - shine at 13.9% occupies the 3rd position for the time being
Only 5 out of the total of 87 participants managed to achieve more than 20% returns and co-incidentally also 5 people are currently showing losses - a creditable performance indeed

This book is the result of the author's many years of experience and observation throughout his 26 years in the stockbroking industry. It was written for general public to learn to invest based on facts and not on fantasies or hearsay....
