KUALA LUMPUR: REDtone International Bhd reported a strong set of financial results in the quarter ended May 31, 2013 with earnings at RM15.31mil, up four fold from RM2.47mil a year ago, boosted by revenue from its data services.


It reported on Wednesday revenue rose 91% to RM43.66mil from RM22.74mil a year ago. Earnings per share were 3.2 sen compared with 0.52 sen. It proposed a dividend of 1.5 sen a share.


"The significant improvement in profit was mainly due to the divestment of non-core and loss making business within the group as well as higher data revenue," it said.


For the financial year ended May 31, 2013, its earnings jumped nearly 10 fold to RM25.21mil from RM2.15mil. Revenue rose 32% to RM141.29mil from RM106.97mil.


"For the current financial year ended May 31, 2013, the board has put in place few strategies to further improve the group's profit.


"Data and broadband services, which includes the group's approximately 4,500 Wifi hotspots, continue to be the main contributor to the group's profit for FYE2013, while the voice business segment continue to be the group's cash cow.

1.5 sen dividen for 100000 unit shares bought at 0.80 is RM 1500! Price should move stable up while pending the div approval and ex-date.
