PETALING JAYA: Perisai Petroleum Teknologi Bhd managing director Zainol Izzet Mohamed Ishak made a slick call by exercising his option to buy 66 million ordinary shares of the company at 48.5 sen per share, according to CIMB Research.
This sounds like a very promising company. Business-wise, Perisai is better than Perdana Petroleum and Petra Energy. CIMB is very enthusiastic about Perisai - so too is Maybank. There's a comprehensive report about it last March.
Petra Energy, the current "flavour of the week", seeing a lot of interest right now due to Perdana's sale. Up 10 sen already today at 1.26 - and it was at around 1.07 last week. But if it's for the longer term, Perisai seems like a better company. But of course, for traders, it's the short-term potential that's a lot more important:-)
From The Edge dated April 30th 2012:UOB Kay Hian; Perisai Petroleum is an emerging O&G player in Malaysia following a change in management and a new strategic shareholder in 2010. It has assets deployed in Malaysia and regionally across the entire offshore upstream O&G value chain, oil field development and production to offshore support vessels. All assets are backed by long term charters, thus minimising risk. Future value enhancing acquisition of niche assets will re rate Perisai. Perisai's associate company Emas Offshore Corp is listed in Norway and was awarded a letter of intent to supply and operate a floating production storage and offloading unit (FPSO) for HESS Corp in the North Malaya Basin,Kamelia, gas field in Malaysia. Cost of investment is estimated at US$300 million. A 50% stake in the FPSO could raise fair value by 33 sen a share. The partnership with EOC is justified for 2 reasons: all existing FPSO operating in Malaysia have domestic equity participation while Perisai's status as a Petronas-sanctioned O&G company will be valued by EOC, and Perisai and EOC share a common strategic shareholder-Ezra Holdings. We initiate a `buy call' with a target peice of RM1.59.
