Including OCI, this quarter was better than the last, and 2017 earned more than 2016 no?

Posted by deepseafisherman > 2017-07-27 19:02 | Report Abuse

Market will compare with last year same quarter and last quarter, higher operating cost dragged it performance and it EPS dropped significantly....

Tomorrow will know....

I guess tomorrow is big sales for ESCERAMIC

But the group’s still in net cash position of RM23.62mn or 11.2sen/share and RM5.59mn cash flow from operation as at FY17. I believe Es Ceramics is a good stock to consider for long-term investment.

Posted by deepseafisherman > 2017-07-27 21:30 | Report Abuse

I agreed with you ESCERAMIC is good counter and with net cash position, but market looking at growth.....expect some short term pain

I think the drop has been factor in since last year July until now as they already foreseen 2017 is not as good as 2016, the chart is on a down trend for a year already. As i said earlier, Q4 is not something loud but we should look forward to the coming year & considering entering Esceram once bottom is found.

I'm also positive for the company long-term, but now brace yourself for ~RM0.35.

Some positives:

1) Considerably higher CAPEX than in previous quarters. Might pay off in the near future if this is further automation

2) Book value is growing at a good pace. YoY B/V has grown from RM0.2075 to RM0.2439. This is a 17.5% growth, which is admirable

3) Mainboard listing will likely happen now that ESC has met the profitability criteria

Overall results is still ok, total turnover increased 11% though profit down
Continuity of plant expansion and transfer to main board, the stock is still good
the management expect favourable performance in coming financial year too

The group has shown improvement in cost management, a stronger balance sheet with a growing cash pile, and solid financial track record led by a prudent management team.

Expect a drop but I see this as chance for average down. Gloves prices is steadily going up, more than 15% for the past 3 years, I'm a clinician and I buy large amount of gloves. Higher revenue posted but lower profit due to costing issue is not as bad as no sales, cost eventually have to transfer to end user. Other hand former company will have to increase their price also if the material cost keep going up. I also charge my patient more when my material price increases, no choice. Long term investor should see this as a chance for bottom fishing . Transferring to main board is another good news, so I remain positive on the future of this company in the long term.

@nikicheong "1) Considerably higher CAPEX than in previous quarters. Might pay off in the near future if this is further automation "

-- I asked the ED, Mr Wong, and he confirmed that the increased expenses in purchases of plant, property & equipment is for automation purposes.

Yeah ED has also confirmed that there will be no main board transfer due to cost considerations.

He will only answer if you are a shareholder obviously. I have contacted him a few times since March.

@nikicheong u just mentioned that main board transfer is likely after meeting the criteria but now u say it's not happening ? Transfer of to main board will have a lot extra cost ? Pls enlighten me, I always thought is a good move to transfer.

I think ES Ceramics is happy where they are, and may not feel that the costs justify the transfer just yet. Maybe they want to wait to get bigger, or maybe they foresee further short-term challenges that might "diminish" their main board listing.

All I can say is, the ED replied to me last night that after the board deliberated on the matter, they decided not to proceed with the transfer listing for the moment due to cost considerations.

no need to speculate lar
still early to apply for main board if there is a plan as the accounts is not audited yet
yes, transfer to main board incur costs i.e bankers, due d .....etc but there is opportunity to tap wider capital funds...
can meet the management during agm in 3 months time
the picture will be clearer by then
good time to pick up more shares at current price if prospects is good

Posted by fullcreammilk > 2017-07-28 11:06 | Report Abuse

The ED, Mr Wong, has been replying to my emails very promptly and professionally in the past few years. That he is willing to respond to shareholder's enquiries is one reason I invest in this company.

I don't think we can find much fault or things to complain about ESCeramics' balance sheet. The management also seems fair and pragmatic, based on my observation during AGM and how they allocate funds.

My main concern is whether its automation can really translate into better profit margins and sales. This...is very difficult to determine, no?

@fullcreammilk, for a busy CEO to response to you in email is rare, unless you are holding substantial shares.

ED will reply, no matter how small or big, as long as you are a shareholder.

In fact you will be surprised how accomodating IR of small/mid caps are. I have gotten replies and clarifications not in the public domain by getting in touch with the IR of Bumi Armada, Ikhmas Jaya and Parkson. ES Ceramics is the only one where the ED replies, possibly because it is a smaller company.

As a shareholder, you are a business owner. As long as your questions and enquiries are within reason, they warrant a response.
