Anyway, can start nibble ad, rebound soon, especially if other big banks also report better expected results today and tomorrow. Also, cimb will sell the bad debts and recover some monies after this quarter

Don't worry. CIMB got strong....very strong backing so just have to predict the best price to go in that's all. If this simple theory also some people can't understand, I got nothing to say anymore.

Cimb still give 0.25 dividend disregard the economy condition. 8% compare to mbb 7%. Just my 1 cent.

Yes, opr is just the noise, real impact is npl. Maybank results dropped mainly because impairment for loans increased 3.5 times from 400m to 1.8b, excluding this, operating income act improved from 7.9b to 8.2b

But I think Maybank did not do active provisioning in the last quarter, now only start doing it. Other banks have increased provisioning since last quarter

Well said melanie1818181818, this year is going to be a bad year for bank earnings due to impairment. But if you are a long term investor, it is good to buy on weakness. The earnings will come back in 2021.

Maybank deferred its dividend for this quarter, they’ll pay but not this quarter as usual. Banking taikor has spoken, expect cimb and others to do the same. Once in a decade opportunity to accumulate on weakness. After heavy provisionings will be writebacks on top of interest rate increases, as long as you can wait for a couple of years. Today sold all gloves for banks

Cimb changed to reporting after 5pm since a few quarters ago. Nothing much to do with good/ bad results. But back envelope calculation tells me the best result is probably 50-60% fall in yoy net profits. So don’t expect too much ya

Imagine 500m provision as guided, plus modification loss, and additional provisions. These three could top 1b which is equivalent to the operating income for the last few quarters. But cimb may want to avoid a loss, so might adjust the additional provisions to show some profits, maybe. But the price now is ad quite low. In 2014, cimb also made huge provisions due to fall in oil price. Made only 200m that one quarter, but share price was 4.5. Today 3.4, you judge can buy or not lo

Higher credit losses than expected in this quarter. Seems most big boys started changing their BotMoney to distribution mode.
