As big Western financial institutions have teetered one after the other in the crisis of recent weeks, another financial sector is gaining new confidence: Islamic banking.

Proponents of the ancient practice, which looks to sharia law for guidance and bans interest and trading in debt, have been promoting Islamic finance as a cure for the global financial meltdown.

This week, Kuwait's commerce minister, Ahmad Baqer, was quoted as saying that the global crisis will prompt more countries to use Islamic principles in running their economies. U.S. Deputy Treasury Secretary Robert M. Kimmet, visiting Jiddah, said experts at his agency have been learning the features of Islamic banking.

Though the trillion-dollar Islamic banking industry faces challenges with the slump in real estate and stock prices, advocates say the system has built-in protection from the kind of runaway collapse that has afflicted so many institutions. For one thing, the use of financial instruments such as derivatives, blamed for the downfall of banking, insurance and investment giants, is banned. So is excessive risk-taking.

most people here might hv unrealized loss around 20-30% including big boss epf here....so what could be the best way ? taking cash dividend which dont even cover ur total unrealized loss or tking drp to average down the price which is believed to be the bottom...as in stock market nothing is permanent ...wats goes up must come down 1 day and vice versa....

haha this is stock market bro...not a night market, it should come with risk...if people are very particular about risk they should nt be here at 1st...and wats up with u so agrressive in chasing away investor ? trying to collect at bottom isit? i wonder do u really or do u even own mbsb shares currently? talk so negative about this particular stock.....bro ur nt a god nor astrologer to predict the future here even ur super called chart analysis report may go wrong in this kind of era where speculation over power them....and yaa i work in banking sector nt in mbsb but traditionally banking are the 1st to tk the hit so as the 1st 1 to recover from it...

I too discourage investors accept the DRP, the management just issue extra share to hold back the cash paying to you, .due to volume of total issue increased, share price will be adjusted and price will drop.

MBSB is the only counter continue practicing DRP for 3 years, what is the motive of MBSB not paying out cash but give you more share, it made the declare of dividend senseless. I may be wrong , but better take today money and spend in today value, even by next month, a cup of coffee may be up another 10 sen..hahaha...

is really challenge how deep you know about mbsb, if drop to 0.55, 0.5, 0.45, 0.4, what you will do? cut loss? buy more to average down? if drop to 0.3? average down again? depends your strategic..

That is why i discourage ppl from taking DRP and at the current market price is going down until where i dont know. A chartist told me that the next support is 46 Cents. Sorry to scare you guys but it is what it is!!!
