So with that kind of explosive exponential capital growth, you do not even need to be distracted at all by any anxiety provoking thoughts of paltry dividends

Posted by WealthSoWonderful > 2021-02-16 04:17 | Report Abuse

And we have not talked about coming TopGlove dividends yet

Pretty substantial it seems, according to rumour being bandied about on the grapevine

WHO lists two additional COVID-19 vaccines for emergency use and COVAX roll-out

AstraZeneca/Oxford-developed vaccines to reach countries in the coming weeks

(15 February 2021 News release Geneva, Switzerland Reading time: 2 min)

The World Health Organization (WHO) today listed two versions of the AstraZeneca/Oxford COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use, giving the green light for these vaccines to be rolled out globally through COVAX. The vaccines are produced by AstraZeneca-SKBio (Republic of Korea) and the Serum Institute of India.

WHO’s Emergency Use Listing (EUL) assesses the quality, safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines and is a prerequisite for COVAX Facility vaccine supply. It also allows countries to expedite their own regulatory approval to import and administer COVID-19 vaccines.

“Countries with no access to vaccines to date will finally be able to start vaccinating their health workers and populations at risk, contributing to the COVAX Facility’s goal of equitable vaccine distribution,” said Dr Mariângela Simão, WHO Assistant-Director General for Access to Medicines and Health Products.

‘But we must keep up the pressure to meet the needs of priority populations everywhere and facilitate global access. To do that, we need two things – a scale-up of manufacturing capacity, and developers’ early submission of their vaccines for WHO review.”

The WHO EUL process can be carried out quickly when vaccine developers submit the full data required by WHO in a timely manner. Once those data are submitted, WHO can rapidly assemble its evaluation team and regulators from around the world to assess the information and, when necessary, carry out inspections of manufacturing sites.

In the case of the two AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccines, WHO assessed the quality, safety and efficacy data, risk management plans and programmatic suitability, such as cold chain requirements. The process took under four weeks.

The vaccine was reviewed on 8 February by WHO’s Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (SAGE), which makes recommendations for vaccines’ use in populations (i.e. recommended age groups, intervals between shots, advice for specific groups such as pregnant and lactating women). The SAGE recommended the vaccine for all age groups 18 and above.

The AstraZeneca/Oxford product is a viral vectored vaccine called ChAdOx1-S [recombinant]. It is being produced at several manufacturing sites, as well as in the Republic of Korea and India. ChAdOx1-S has been found to have 63.09% efficacy and is suitable for low- and middle-income countries due to easy storage requirements.

EPF has stopped disposing mbb and cimb. It seems that EPF is still selling pbb. Hope that it stops soon. It should as it will not hold less than 15.1%of pbb share.

PBB shareholders should hold on & wait becos you already own the shares and can wait.
Sellers need to sell fast to get money & cannot wait because need money now & cannot wait.

Keeping the share price low before dividend announcement is to pbb advantage. The % looks more attractive. Same 10sen dividend per share has different % of return at RM4. 22 and RM4. 50. Just an example.

Correct me if I am wrong please..learning from all unkers sifus here.

@AllYouCanBuy
You are correct. A lower denominator of 4.22 price results in a higher 2.36 % return compared to a higher denominator of 4.50 price resulting in a lower return of 2.22 % return.
So, a lower price of 4.22 will yield a higher return of 2.36 %.

PBB shareholders should keep shares after receiving dividends as economy is in the process of recovering with most business sectors already opened now !
Once recovery momentum is picking up, with greater business, financial, & loan transactions, PBB price will move forward and upward faster and further.

Obviously Epf is disposing off Pbb shares to provide for its annual dividend next month. Hopefully the dividend is maintained around 5.5%. This is another good source of passive income better than FD. Anyone got alternative passive income to share? PBB shares for sure. The golden bull is charging forward n upwards this year. Be prepared for the prosperity. Huat Ah!

In a way, it is better that less shares are held by these funds so that it will be more diluted among more shareholders. Then, less volatility and pressure on price downwards when lower volume sold. Less pump & dump, etc.

PBB shareholders HOLD and WAIT and/or BUY/TOP UP.
1) Vaccinations begins in a few days time (Feb 26 ?)
2) Dividend announcement probably coming soon.
3) Economy slowly but surely in process of recovery with most business sectors open.
4) More Mco conditions released with more than 2 can dine-in & can travel beyond 10km.

I still expect good dividend from pbb.

@neohts Thanks and in reference to https://www.thestar.com.my/business/business-news/2021/02/17/better-outlook-for-banking-sector

Emphasis in last 2 paragraphs of report which highlighted positively on PBB.

Our dividend per share (DPS) projections for FY20 are lower y-o-y across the board, mainly because of the lower earnings that we have projected for FY20, coupled with conservatively lower payout ratios for all banks, except Public Bank Bhd, for which we deem earnings risks to be low, given its superior loan loss coverage of 362%, including regulatory reserves.

“Nevertheless, with their strong capital positions, it is possible that banks’ payout ratios could surprise positively, ” Maybank IB said.
