although GEELY now own volvo its 2 different scenerio..Volvo is a success for many years with its presence as a safety & reliable tech car.Proton on the other hands is a domestic used which brings lots of problem for many years.With the entrance of GEELY in Msia market its kind of sceptical for our people as the BRANDS itself is still very new in the market.It will however boost the consumer confident but it will take time..There is no quick fix

If you read carefully GEELY MIGHT EVEN BYPASS PROTON for these reasons

1. GEELY'S SUV AND VOLVO ARE ALREADY A SUCCESS IN CHINA. SO PROTON IS NOT NEEDED AS A BRAND NOW.

GEELY'S LYNK 01 AND SUV COULD BE REBADGED AS PROTON. THAT WAS HOW SUZUKI ERTIGA WAS REBADGED AS PROTON ERTIGA.

2. ANOTHER REASON IS CHINA CANNOT EXPORT TO MORE THAN 84 NATIONS. AND ALSO ASEAN 10 WHICH HAS TARIFF.

BY PRODUCING CARS IN MALAYSIA BEING A NEUTRAL AND ALSO PART OF ASEAN TEN NATIONS ALL THE BARRIERS ARE NOW REMOVED.

SO GEELY CAN EXPAND THROUGH TG MALIM FACTORY AND EXPORT FREELY WORLDWIDE WITHOUT RESTRICTION.

GEELY ALSO GOT LOTUS AND FERRAGIA FOR BOTH SUBMARINE AND AIR PLANE TECH KNOWLEDGE.

SO LEARN TO HAVE AN OVERALL VIEW.

aiyoh calvin laupan...the current price speaks for it self lahhh.1.1 billion grant is to overhaul the entire biz module in proton...it take time to materialise...Just like a sick and ailing person...need to prescribe medication until it is fully recover to deem fit & healthy...

I think for june financial will be in deep red, as proton 49.9% been sold in huge lost if compare to the acquisation price, even Lotus also needs to write off loan tat drb given in previous years.

Bear in mind, public listed account nid to follow rules...Pos share wont help even abit, as no nid to revalue stated by SC as no major changes in the share now.

After this qr, might sink more, but bright day will come, maybe after October...

Still, drb is goreng stock, until the fundamental is changing, and share price more stabilize then can slowly b a blue chip, how long?

No one knows...dun time the market.

I got worried when I read your comment, so I called a friend who is with Proton Vendor Association, he said payment from Proton coming in. Where they got the funds?

Called another friend at Proton HQ, he said tomorrow got media from China coming to do interview at Proton....if no money or money not in, why they allow?

Govt exhausted with cash, need to review so many GLC and become bankrupt sooner or later. Fgv, mrcb, iris corporation, MAS plus need lots of money to pay for the election.

For now, all we can do is speculate, but I will keep holding coz I believe that there's a reason why the definitive agreement which was supposed to be signed in July was pulled back to be signed in June. Reason being (I'm speculating) that since it's done in Q2, the proceeds from the sale of 49.9% Proton and 100% of lotus (51% Geely/ 49%SM) will be revenue for Q2. Hence, absorbing the losses significantly for Q2. As for Q3 onwards, half of the loss making proton and 100% lotus has got nothing to do with DRB. Therefore losses from proton (if any) should be insignificant. Gov grant reimbursement of RM1.1B also not taken into consideration yet. Even if it's released in portions, will be enough to hold profits for at least 2Qtrs for proton. For the next 1year, proton will not be a burden to DRB. After that will depend on Geely
