Bought some Bursa @ below 6.30 recently. Recommended to premium clients this week.

Judge Bursa by their daily vol, not by the rise in KLCI. Current ADV is very poor.

This stock appears to be doing exactly what was expected since the quarterly and dividend announcement last Friday (28th). The expected dividend chase started on the half day Monday trading and got into full swing when the market reopened on Thursday. Prior to the dividend announcement it was trading around 6.18, so with the dividend bait of 17 cents it seemed logical that the price would at least rise to 6.35, which coincidently was a major Fib point on the way down. As with most dividend chases the price generally overshoots the runway, with an intraday high on Thursday of 6.49. Coincidently 6.49 is also the point of the current upper Bollinger Band.

I would be very surprised if it was to break that 6.49 price point before it goes Ex Dividend on the 17th of February.....although stranger things have happened :)

Post Ex Dividend I can only see one direction for Bursa as there is too much "weight" to push it down, that being:

1. The 17 cents drop on Ex Div day.
2. The current low ADTV, January had an average ADTV of just over Rm2 Billion.
3. Early February signs that the ADVT is not rising. Example, Thursday's market was robust and had a good upward move but the ADVT for that day was only Rm1,624 Billion. Not a great start to the month.

Just my thoughts.

LM, you said...."sell cum div and wait to buy back ex at much lower price".

I agree and to me seems the most logical outcome.

If we were to assume that February's ADVT was similar to January's, and perhaps even marginally higher, then it would mean that March would have to have a regular ADVT of around Rm3.5 Billion just to match the previous quarter's figures. Almost a 75% daily increase throughout the month of March.

We would require something dramatic to happen to the upside of our market in March for that to enfold. Right now I am really not seeing that as an option.

LM, daily volumes and values still need to increase significantly if they are to match last quarters figures.

Last quarters daily value averages for each month were:

October = 2.9 Bill.
November = 2.8 Bill.
December = 1.9 Bill.

We are now at the half way point of this current quarter and the daily value averages are:

January = a touch over 2 Bill.
February to date = 2.23 Bill.

Currently it would require daily value averages of at least 3 Bill each trading day of the remainder of February and all of March to reach the last quarter's daily value averages.

Possible? I would have doubted it.

Notwithstanding and totally agree TreeTop. But again, some may argue is it all already reflected in the price? Love that line :)

The trend is your friend, until it no longer remains a trend.

Currently the last 4 quarters EPS are trending down....15 cents, 11 cents, 9.9 cents and 8 cents. Although only half way through this current quarter, the indicators (factual figures) are showing the downward trend to continue.

The question nobody knows yet is when this slide will cease. I'm certainly not brave enough to guess the answer. I'm sure all holders are hoping it turns before reaching FY19 EPS figures of quarterly EPS figures between 5.6 cents and 5.8 cents each quarter.

Anyway, enough about Bursa, I'm the birthday boy today and heading out for lunch and drinks with a few friends, so I'm sure Bursa wont be a topic of conversation. See you tomorrow.......probably with a headache :)

Dow Falls More Than 600 Points, Its Worst Day of 2022

The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped more than 600 points Thursday, its steepest one-day loss of 2022, as geopolitical tensions and the prospect of tighter monetary policy ahead roiled markets.

The blue-chip index slid 622.24 points, or 1.8%, to 34312.03, its worst session on a point and percentage basis since November. The S&P 500 fell 94.75 points, or 2.1%, to 4380.26. The tech-focused Nasdaq Composite Index dropped 407.38 points, or 2.9%, to 13716.72.

By Kazusa Yoda / Yomiuri Shimbun Staff Writer
Japan will in principle take concerted action with the Group of Seven nations in imposing economic sanctions on Russia if that nation invades Ukraine, The Yomiuri Shimbun has learned.

“We reconfirmed our cooperation through a candid exchange of views [on the situation in Ukraine],” Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi told reporters online on Saturday. Hayashi was in Germany to attend the G7 foreign ministers meeting.

When Russia annexed the Crimean Peninsula in southern Ukraine in 2014, relations between Tokyo and Moscow were good, with then Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Russian President Vladimir Putin frequently holding talks. The United States and the European Union imposed economic sanctions on Russia at the time, but Japan implemented only minor measures, including the suspension of negotiations on easing visa requirements, as it had high hopes for the resolution of the northern territories issue.

I've just worked out the Daily Average Transaction Value for February. After a slow first half to the month, the values increased over the last half to bring the DATV to Rm2.85 B for the full month. Some big value buying of stocks in the palm oil sector such as KLK , and crude oil stocks would have helped a lot to increase the monthly value.

For March, Bursa requires a similar value of around Rm2.85B to Rm2.9B DATV to be inline with the last quarter's reduced performance figures.

Not for me, LM.
Hard to envisage how this month's figures will look but I'm still cautious. If palm oil and crude oil hadn't had such a good gain then I doubt February's figures would have reached Rm2.85B.

Technically there is still Fib points at 6.35 and 6.20. Currently looking like it's using 6.20 as a support and 6.35 as resistance. I suggest you keep an eye on the DATV each day to see if it can keep to the requited RM2.9B each day.

Posted by lionel messi > 2022-03-01 12:06 | Report Abuse

Can start "nippling" already TreeTop. But take it slow and nice. Won't see daily DATV at below RM2 bil already. Yesterday was good at almost RM4 bil.

LM.......I always take nippling slow and nice, seems to have the best overall effect :)

Posted by lionel messi > 2022-03-02 16:37 | Report Abuse

Better start already else she is going to run away. DATV has stabilised at above RM3 bil even in the worst of times currently during the middle of a war. Imagine a ceasefire announcement.

UPDATED THU, MAR 3 2022 9:40 PM EST
Russian troops are shelling Europe?s largest nuclear power station in Ukraine, officials say

Russia's invasion of Ukraine enters its second week Thursday as fighting continues across the smaller country.

There were conflicting reports about which side controls the city of Kherson. Ukrainians still control capital Kyiv despite Russian efforts to overtake the city. Port city Maripol and Kharkiv, Ukraine's second biggest city, experienced heavy shelling Wednesday.

Specific accounts of military activity are difficult to confirm as the situation on the ground in Ukraine can change quickly.

So fake. No reason to go up. Daily trading vol so poor at less than RM3 bil. Retail interest totally gone with high transaction cost. No justification for price rise. Unless insider know something is going to be announced. Regulators, do your job.

I certainly didn't see this 6.20 to 6.80 run up over 2 days, LM.
Well done if you got in at the low. Strange how it started to rise yesterday when the market was a bit subdued and the previous day's DATV was at the lowest for the month.

Whoever ran it up deserves an applause :)
