Posted by AngTayKor > 2022-12-10 13:17 | Report Abuse Lecanemab causes brain to shrink even faster! ---------- Lecanemab and other drugs that remove amyloid have another side effect that is more mysterious: They seem to cause the brain to shrink.
That concerns scientists including Thambisetty.
"Brain shrinkage represents disease progression," he says. "What is a little worrying to me is that these drugs might be worsening the degenerative process."
Alzheimer's itself causes the brain to shrink, a sign that neurons are dying. So Thambisetty expected Alzheimer's drugs to limit shrinkage, rather than accelerate it.
So did Dr. David Knopman of the Mayo Clinic. "It's moving in the wrong direction," he said during a panel at the Alzheimer's meeting.
Thambisetty wants Eisai to publish detailed information about the changes in brain volume that occurred during its study of lecanemab. --------- Thambisetty is a current FDA Adcom panel member while David Knopman resigned as FDA Adcom panel member in protest due to FDA's Aduhelm accelerated approval fiasco. ------- @DestinyL, rate of brain atrophy is one of the endpoint measurement in lucidity trial. This is the purest form of biomarker in a clinical trial compared to reduction of amyloid deposits. Patients taking HMTM can see slower rate of brain atrophy. ********************************************
Conclusions: These findings reveal the potential for anti-Aβ therapies to compromise long-term brain health by accelerating brain atrophy, and provide new insight into the adverse impact of ARIA.
Bought Maybank at an average price of RM8.30 in early 2020. Received dividends amounting to RM2.13 per share to date. Not many counters would give you such kind of returns.
"My portfolio growth last yr alone much more than 25%" @MoneyMakers, that's is what you claim. Nobody can verify it. 99% of investors are unable to achieve a 15% gain in a year but 100% of Maybank investors would achieve over 25% gain in three years if they have not sold their shares.
If you ask 33 million Malaysians between Maybank and Genting, which company would more likely face collapse, all would say Genting except some jokers here.
"Most MY ignorant like u - ofcos dunno how toxic banks right now" So you have withdrawn all your money from the banks and put all into Genting. Don't cry father cry mother should PN win the next GE and decide to close down Genting.
"This is fact - ur opinion isnt fact/reality (ownself deluded)" @MoneyMakers, this is the opinion of Malaysia's Warren Buffet, I laughed so loud that my dog also started to bark.
'Aiyoyo @Prudentinv why need withdraw money from bank - gov guarantee ma When bank crisis hit, deposits safe - only shareholder immediately wiped out" @FearMongers, the government would only safeguard the interests of poor indirect bank shareholders like ASB unit holders, Kumpulan Wang Pesaraan and LTAT members, not rich people like you.
Please note …..both maybank and Genting group unlikely to collapse! Maybank is not an investment bank per se like US and some western banks. Investment exposure is limited and complex product manufacturing is pretty much zero. Only risk is bad debts. But it has plenty of cushion and governance is pretty good. Genting group is also low risk from being bankrupt given it is diversification and attractive portfolio. So please do t waste time talkimg about failing…this is an investment forum focus on the positive side. Maybank is income stock and Genting has the potential for significant capital growth …in the medium term…assuming the owner does not dump shares.
Citing Bloomberg, the analyst said that Genting Malaysia Bhd's sale of its Miami assets is likely to be realised with a value of between US$1 billion (RM4.4 billion) and US$1.5 billion, and may be completed in the coming weeks.
Due to the price divergence for these two stocks, Genting’s market capitalisation is now trading below the value of its holdings in GenS, at 73.6% of its stake in GenS valued at RM6.34 per share, based on the latest closing price, implying deep value in the stock. He added: "We now tactically prefer Genting over GenM, as we believe that Genting is deep in value, trading at a discount below its stake in GenS. "
Question is, who is going to buy up Genting bhd in valuation of its asset value? Doesn't seem to be any fund's darling, no thanks to repeated RPTs Not easy to unlock the value Look at all the sister holdings pricing, valuations are not too far off from their respective fair valuations
