Looks like the board of directors just started to brainstorm what to do with the current long streak of losses. Churning out ideas ranging from selling off to changing mgt to possibly do nothing.... It will be a while before the widespread cancerous tumor is fully removed & the patient is out of the deathbed. Meanwhile.... good for punting...

THE Malaysian Airline System Bhd Employees Union (Maseu) wants a
new management team in place, rather than an outright privatisation of the national carrier.The union does not believe that the current management can return the airline back to profitability.
In its first quarter financial results this year, MAS posted a wider net loss of RM278.83 million, compared with RM171.79 million in the same period last year.
“In 2011, the management promised that MAS will be profitable in two years. Based on the current performance, we do not expect it to materialise.
If Singapore Airlines and AirAsia Bhd can profit, why is MAS not doing the same?” Maseu president Alias Aziz told Business Times in a telephone interview yesterday.

MAS is difficult to turnaround if they dont resolve the internal conflicts between mgt and employee union (Maseu). MAS should give VSS for those inefficient staff to cut down the staff costs.

What Maseu claimed could be the most sensible thing. MAS has been run by Gov't appointed CEO/Chairman for ages...many items had been cronitised...remember the story on MAS Catering where prices were unbelievaly inflated...in the cronism world people get contacts at the whims of certain people ignoring all aspects of prudent management. What about he said the RM1.0 billion spareparts stock...LOL...how ironic to buy such stock in today era of IT and globalisation..........hope Maseu nominated CEO is given the chance! Then the price goes up further hehehe
