PASIR GUDANG: Datuk Nicole Wong will not let banners with crude remarks targeted at her interfere with her campaign to win the Tebrau parliamentary seat for Barisan Nasional.

She added that she was frustrated with the banners that had been found around the constituency and questioned the timing with polling day getting nearer.

She added that this was a second incident in her campaign after three of her contractors who were tasked to put up a billboard were injured after being hit by a car in the wee hours of Wednesday (Nov 9) morning.

She said that the remarks written in Mandarin, had negative words against her as she was not a local and told her to go back home.

"We are all Malaysians. It does not matter if we are from Kedah, Penang or Melaka as we speak the same language and eat the same food. I will not let such words affect my campaign to win the seat," she said, adding her team would be lodging a police report about the banners soon.

Wong said that Tebrau was not a safe seat for Barisan but she wanted to lead by example during the Johor state polls, adding that she has received positive feedback from locals while campaigning in the constituency.

She added that with the right person as its elected representative, Tebrau has the potential to develop even further.

"After two days of campaigning, the voters here made me feel welcome and I have been receiving positive feedback and encouragement from them including the youth that want to volunteer to help in my campaign," she said
