Look at Taann latest results which showed good sign of earning recovery & pick up, Jtiasa should be have similar good results as well. Based on rise of CPO price and weakening of RM & higher log price, the good future of JTIASA is foreseeable.
This is what stated in the their previoys Q result:
"Higher pre-tax profit was resulted from:- -19% and 36% decrease in production cost as a result of 55% and 95% increase in production volume in CPO and PK respectively; and -24% and 19% improvement in average selling prices of FFB and CPO respectively."
This qtr production do show increase as well. FFB and CPO price also increase as well. Let see if both these positive numbers helps to covers timber div.
By right,it should go up after breaking 1.44 but it did not despite rise in CPO and so many others recommending this stock besides COLDEYE who has many followers.Be careful,it could be a trap!
wtk 100% logging business ,its result suggests they managed a break even, not anything like damaging loses, therefore no course for alarm for jtiasa ,cpo could bring in profit, though not so rosy as earlier suggested.
It's easy to take WTK's result and project it on JTiasa assuming that their timber and log division will drag Jtiasa down.
A few things that could be helpful in making your decision: 1. WTK's palm oil are still young. They are making losses 2. WTK suffered from one off loss from disposal of subsidiary 3. WTK's Timber division continued to be profitable in the latest Q 4. 81% of WTK's revenue comes from Timber and 2.5% from palm oil
So you shouldn't be so quick to superimpose WTK's result on JTiasa.
For JTiasa a few important things 1. Palm oil has been growing significantly while timber slows down due to the stricter chief minister 2. Most palm oil players are chalking record earnings (cepat, Tecguan, Inno). Some players are getting hit such as FGV due to bad investment in Turkey. Just because they had a bad quarter due to bad governance does not mean Palm oil is doing poorly 3. Taann's profit was actually quite strong. The only thing was that in the previous year, they recorded such strong profits due to forex gains (net cash with USD) that they could not beat that quarter
I could be wrong about JTiasa and they could be performing below expectations, but I agree with FSL that this is still an undervalued stock with significant profit growth from maturing plantations moving forward.
3. Taann's profit was actually quite strong. The only thing was that in the previous year, they recorded such strong profits due to forex gains (net cash with USD) that they could not beat that quarter
In reality, Taann in the corresponding Q last year had a Reversal of impairment loss on property plant and equipment amounting to RM13.5m significant one off gain on top of forex gains.
WTK lower profit due to lower plywood price prompted portfolio also cut Jtiasa today, as based on last Q result. jtiasa earning also rely mostly from its timber division albeit growing up contribution from CPO .
I agree hng33, there is substantial risk in the plywood division of JTiasa. The log division might be able to support the plywood in addition to the strong FFB harvest with high CPO prices.
If not mistaken, Jtiasa oil palm start record positive profit about RM 20m in Q4, narrow down of its cumulative previous 3Q loss.
With growing up production and CPO volume, upcoming Jtiasa result oil plam division should record at least positive RM 30m profit, offset plywood division.
all bearish factors had already price in for jtiasa, let wait for some good factors, at least today cpo broke 3000 rm psychology level, is very encouraging.
malaysia faced never before such desberate greedy, looting situation, therefore only export business and commodity business are doing ok,others are facing worsening enviroment ,as currency is crashing sharply, and domestic consumption declined.
This book is the result of the author's many years of experience and observation throughout his 26 years in the stockbroking industry. It was written for general public to learn to invest based on facts and not on fantasies or hearsay....
