Rain Tree is right. Generally...very strong -ve correlation between oil price n airline stocks. Sing Airlines n Emirates hv reported huge reduction (80%) in Q3 profits.

As we know many people are selfish including politicians. Every1 say AA will give special dividend after selling airplanes. So the buyers AA planes all stupid? Why must they buy when they don't gain in return?

FGV, your thinking is really annoying. If your arguement is true, no trade in the world would have happened!!

Trade happens to suit needs of both buyer and seller. The buyer is airplanes leasing companies, they would like to expand their portfolio, at the same time develop a partnership with Airasia. Airasia sells because the planes are fully depreciated, or almost, it also save some maintenance cost. At the same time, Airasia also bought some new planes with bigger capacity and fuel saving properties.

Moreover, TF thinks Airasia is deeply undervalue In order to maximise shareholder’s value, they chose to sell asset and return cash to shareholders. This is good corporate governance. (Most listed companies choose to eat the money instead).

Last waves rallied to rm4.75 and rm3.7, all waiting for special dividend. Now the deal is closing to end, next few days will be very interesting.

if u dig deeper, u will notice it's normal for EPF to buy/sell..
but they're still the major shareholder..
apart from TF & KM..EPF is the main beneficiary from SD..

as for CIMB 'ANAL'ysts TP 2.72...most likely he's going to upgrade to 6.22 next week because of oil crashed..

AirAsia going to be an assets and liabilities light company after disposal.

For Indian joint venture business, it seem negative. But think deeply, it is not so easy to terminate the joint venture relationship some more the Indian partners involving in the same airline industry. It will have non competition clause in Joint venture agreement, I.e. after termination, the relevant partners cannot involve in any same business within how many years.

It looks easy to terminate the relationship, but technically will have some bottleneck. Or even involve compensation to Airasia for the initial investment.

@ charlesT, cimb is too conservative in their analysis, they avoid risk here and there. So, they might suggest to you to keep your cash with them as FD at the end. LOL
For Kenanga, I downgrade kenanga's stock from HOLD to SELL with the changed TP at 0.41.

tatagroup just rumours, never say real wanna sell AirAsia India. even if they really sell, it doesnt matter, it just like buyer and seller of shareholders like us.

Disposing AA India might be even better for the whole group as AA India only incur losses. 19 Aircraft (not that much) use for other destination might be even better.

Why this quarter announcement dividend is possible?

1) this is the last quarter able to announce interim dividend which does not need AGM approval

2) next quarter annocument is 4th quarter. Which only can wait final dividend to announce which may need wait until May 2019

3) the next interim fan only announce on 1st Q 2019 also may 2019 if miss this round.

If the loan of TF have a date, then it may need to catch up the time line of this round.
