Good QR with good dividend will make a difference.
Good QR alone will not make any difference in a dying Malaysian stock market.

6 cents for March quarter. 24 cents for the year.
They usually announce dividends around July-Sep. Hence, let's pray for the best.
Meantime, pondering to collect more...

Just imagine if they payout 50% as dividend, it will be 12sen. Less the 3 sen interim already paid in October last year , second interim/final will be 9 sen.

I'm fine with another 3 sen. Now with more business/policies, they need to set aside more reserves. Even with total 6 sen, that's 5% DY from Friday closing price

Insurance company benefit during MCO

Yes, for general insurance the premium and policy will need to be paid but with less claims arising from reduced operations. Not sure about life policies though, does life insurance cover deaths due to Covid?

Less car during Covid time, less accidents, less pay out for insurance claim, more profit

More people spend time at home during covid, fire incidents that hit residential drop dramatically. Less claim insurance means more profit for MNRB

@moratorium, I think life policy pay the benefit to beneficiary upon death of the insured irrespective of the cause .

Yes, MCO is good for insurance companies as claim ratio will fall and profit will up.

Johnzhang, thanks for the clarification. Anyway, I think not a cause for alarm or will impact next Q profit much. MNRB going on an uptrend now, enjoying the ride...

After MMC, this may be the next target for privatization by controlling shareholder. It’s very very cheap to privatize while the Malaysian stock market is dead now.

PNB does not work to privatize MNRB. They want to sell it, waiting for the right price.

@chkhooju, it’s a lot of gain for PNB to first privatize it and subsequently divest whatever % to a foreign investor . To privatize the company when Malaysian stock market is dead like now is real cheap. Privatization may succeed at 0.8x book value . The subsequent divestment to a strategic foreign investor can fetch 2 to 3x book value. MPHB capital divest its small insurance unit to Generali at over 3x book value . Make sense ?

At PE 15x the stock worth $3.60 which is 1.1x book value. Bear in mind , Takaful insurance is fast growing and MNRB is riding the growth . Price will surge when dividend yield improve further.

In the past months, i may be overly enthusiastic in sharing my view on my favorite 3 M stocks - MMC, MNRB and MPHB . All of them are extremely undervalued by the market and now is the perfect market condition for controlling shareholders to privatize them . MMC has come to fruition finally. MNRB and MPHB will follow suits. Do your own fundamental study on them before investing.

@Petronas, I certainly think so. Don’t cry over spilled milk like many do at MMC forum. Few people interest to buy or add more to portfolio when MMC was trading at ridiculously low $0.80 to $1.20 for last 2 years ! Now , many think the takeover offer price of $2 is unfair .

Why MNRB?

What should be a reasonable price target?

Based on the company's past earnings:

EPS Full Year 2017: 31 cents

EPS Full Year 2018: 43 cents

EPS Full Year 2019: 24 cents

EPS Full Year 2020: 18 cents

EPS Full Year 2021: 23 cents (assuming quarter ending 31.03.21 has same EPS as previous quarter)

EPS of 20 cents x PE of 10 years = min RM2.00 should be the target price. We are not simply multiplying by any PE; in fact, this company has proven over the time that it managed to maintain such EPS.

Based on peers' valuation (relative valuation method)

CURRENT TRAILING 12M EPS

CURRENT TRAILING 12M PE

MNRB...............23 cents ..........6x
LPI....................84 cents.........16x
MANULIFE.........9 cents..........11x
TAKAFUL..........43 cents .........11x
TUNEPRO..........3 cents..........19x
MPHBCAP..........2 cents..........73x

MNRB is trading at the cheapest PE. Even at a conservative PE of 10x, the min target price is 23cents x 10 = RM2.30.

Based on the company's own earnings for the past 10 years and also based on its peers' relative valuation, the target price for MNRB Holdings Berhad should be minimum RM2.00, an upside of approximately 43% from current price.
