Jim, price drop cause by revenue and profit under expected. Nothing special. Revenue drop 16% compare with Q1Y14. But Eps and profit increase.

Share buy back resolution need to get approval at AGM. Look at Parkson which only start to buy back their shares recently after their AGM. Hope YTL Power shareholders here will attend AGM and ask them to carry out share buy back since no dividend announcement.

This is one of the companies that I have a shareholding in but this is board forum which I've never posted on before.

rlch: I think you're incorrect in your assumption that YTL Power cannot perform any share buybacks until after the AGM resolution is passed.

I'll reproduce for you a paragraph from the AGM notice regarding the share buyback resolution (it's the same in the 2012 and 2013 AGM notice)

This is from the heading "PROPOSED RENEWAL OF SHARE BUY-BACK AUTHORITY", the paragraph immediately after item (iii) (c):

"AND THAT such authority shall commence upon the passing of this resolution, until the conclusion of the next Annual General Meeting of the Company or the expiry of the period within which the next Annual General Meeting is required by law to be held unless revoked or varied by Ordinary Resolution of the shareholders of the Company in general meeting, whichever occurs first, but so as not to prejudice the completion of a purchase made before such expiry date;"

Translation: After shareholders approve this, the company can do share buybacks until the next AGM is over or the period when the next AGM to be called has passed. (this is why share buy back resolutions are always put in during the AGM, for renewal)

So it's not that the company can't do share buybacks at the moment, but it's because they do not want to.

Proof of my points, AGMs for YTL Power are always held at the end of November. In November 2013, before the AGM there were a lot of share buy backs for that month.


And let's face it, a share buy back resolution for a stable blue chip company is never voted against, it almost always passes without any problems.

Epf bought 2.09 million ytlp again at 19 nov.
Our epf is really cute. What fact that consider they buy or sell? Sold at low and now buy at high...
Or there are some one control epf fm? When he want buy nobody sell it then let epf sell. Now want sell but nobody buy, so ask epf buy it? Epf action really make me curious.....

don't worry, epf soon will change full withdraw at 60 years old. when 1mdb listed, epf can pump cash in. 2000MW coal fire 3B, 15MW solar, 2000MW CCGT. ytlp will only perform local market when the (Tony Pua)scandal break. LONG LIVE 1MDB.

I think investors sold because of no good news. Cause they predict hv good news at first. But now selling with disappointed. Long term investors should no effect. Just hold and wait.

share buy back right is approved not share buy back is approved....this mean that company has the right to buy back share (as they renew their right on 25Nov)....but this doesn't mean that they need to exercise such right...if they want to buy back their share, they should have bought it before the AGM (because they still have the right before AGM, but after AGM, such right will expired and need to re-apply)

YTLP RM1.40 - RM1.50 is reasonable price with PE about 10 to 11. Recent share down is because no more good news and after Dividend Ex.
