Ytl power awarded in arbitration against Petronas, a gas supplier for its power plant for recovery sum over invoiced, estimate worth RM 700m, but petronas apply to set aside and demand to reduce sum payable to YTL POWER, but have challenge by Ytl power as for itsnon merit application. Currently still pending final outcome.

YTL Corp expects Paka contract to be extended

PETALING JAYA: YTL Corp Bhd, which reported a 15% drop in net profit to RM298.9mil in the last quarter ended June 30 due to slower property sales and lower contributions from its utility business, expects to win a contract extension for its power plant in Paka, Terengganu.

The existing power purchase agreement (PPA) for the Paka power station will expire on Sept 30.

“The discussion on the terms and conditions are on-going and on completion, a new PPA is expected to be signed for the period from March 1, 2016 to Dec 31, 2018,” it said.

The group was selected under a “short-term capacity” bid called by the Malaysian Energy Commission to continue to supply electricity from its existing facility.

Meanwhile, on a full year, YTL’s net profit of RM1.07bil also reflected a weaker performance from the RM1.55bil in the previous financial year.

Its revenue was also down to RM16.8bil from RM19.27bil a year ago.

On its outlook, YTL said it expected the construction segment to achieve satisfactory performance in the current financial year as it was mainly related to the group’s property development and infrastructure works.

Considering the group’s level of operations and continued growth in the construction sector, its cement manufacturing was also expected to see satisfactory performance.

For its utilities segment, the current power purchase agreement will expire on September 30.
