i believe EPF will continue buy YTL & YTL Power. Where else can they find 6%+ yield

If EPF cannot get >7% yield elsewhere it better close shop. Getting 6.2% and 6.5% dividend yield from YTL/YTLP and pay 6.75% dividend to its members. Brilliant! Clap clap!

When there is something people wants, they will pay for it..
Now what makes YTLP & YTL attractive?
Cash and business oversea (especially £)? Continuity of dividen? Renew of short term power supply locally? Possess plants from Edra at fire sale price by 4Q? Long term prospect due to all these?
If u don't find any attraction, u won't buy.. So do others.

With YTLP closed unchanged, and wb up 0.5sen, the gap between WB and YTLP is closer a bit now, so that once YTLP really move up, wb can closely follow later.

With YTLP at 1.55, WB now already fully price in and beware of need of conversion period need at least 2-3 week before can rush and catch up to entitle dividend before ex-dividend. Thus, swap all WB to YTLP is better solution and hassle free and can anytime take profit is condition warranted.

No smartly... i got plenty of div through YTL .... YTLP-WB is for big gain... that's why I just keep on avg down my cost everytime it drops... although it's a long wait game, but YTLPWB helped me gained 65% in the last 3 years... better performance than any mutual fund you can buy out there...

beware the WB expiry date because Yeoh family can hold 3 years no dividend and the mother can drop below 1.20, and the WB become zero.

YTLP should able to stand above RM 1.60 before ex for its dividend. Keep the balance stake in YTLP at cost now RM 1.58 for higher profit margin :D)

Smartly, 0.425... yloon, thanks for reminding, i came a long way with Yeoh Family... they could have privatise the YTLP and keep all the cash... if they continue give div for 2 years... just be prepared for new big project... :) :)

leek, each time dividend given, mother price will adjust downwards hence warrant price also down. so is it good for warrant holder if mother keeps giving dividend?

Posted by fairnreasonable > 2015-09-05 13:51 | Report Abuse

I agree that a counter that pays high dividend regularly is generally not very good for warrant holder because the price of mother share is not likely to move up very much if a high proportion of the earning is paid as dividend.

YTLP is a rather unique case in Bursa that its Warrant tends to stay at a discount to its mother share as it is right now. If the Pre-Ex mother share is RM 1.60, the theoretical post-Ex share price will be RM 1.50. If the pre-ex warrant price is RM 0.44, the post-ex warrant price will most likely be less than RM 0.40 if not a corresponding RM 0.10 drop.

It seems not a good strategy for warrant holders to hold on to their warrants and miss the opportunity of the dividend to be gained by the share holders - and to see a subsequent drop in the value of their warrant post-ex.

My own strategy is to convert my warrants to benefit from the dividend. I believe the mother share may not drop as much as RM 0.10 post-ex. I may then sell YTLP shares to buy the Warrants which may have dropped substantially. I adopted this strategy last year and I found it working.

I have stayed invested in YTLP and warrant for 10 years. This is the counter I still have lost money over the years. Nonetheless, I am hopeful that YTLP may turn around soon. With its large cash holding, there may be opportunities in this difficult time.

Sold off all YLL-P at 1.57-1.58, realize some loss, free up capital, swap back to skptre

Intitally want to keep these balance stake in YTLP until it above RM 1.60, but time is just not right....Puncak expect to seal the deal and fulfil last condition precedent in water assets disposal...and capital tight in skept.....thus, need to make portfolio adjustment to boost Puncak stake to maximum, retain some skept but cut off all YTLP to free up capital. It all due personal portfolio adjustment.
