There was Ismail Sabri getting stuck into Penang today regarding this and as Selangor has pointed out - the information is not out for the States to check, adapt and adopt. So how Defence Minister? Telepathy?

Huh - Federal Government keeping them in the dark. Is that fair? Are the Feds doing this deliberately? I hope not. Maybe it just shows how unorganized and incompetent the non elected Feds actually are? The Feds will pay for their folly soon enough. You are really quite illogical in your comment.

Selangor can just as easily refer to guidelines established WHO and CDC; it is not rocket science to just adopt the SOP as outlined by them. No need to wait for PN, show some independence from the illegitimate backdoor gomen. Don't think Moo and his merry band of cabinet members have enough smarts, as they too look to WHO and CDC

Malaysian prosecutors drop corruption charges against Najib ally
High Court acquits Musa Aman, a senior figure in former PM Najib Razak's United Malays National Organisation.

Malaysian government prosecutors withdrew corruption charges on Tuesday against an ally of former prime minister Najib Razak, whose party returned to power in a new coalition three months ago after having lost the last election amid massive graft scandals.

The Kuala Lumpur High Court acquitted Musa Aman, a senior figure in Najib's United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) and former chief minister of Sabah state in Malaysian Borneo, after the prosecution dropped all 46 charges of alleged bribery in timber concession deals and money-laundering.

Musa's lawyer, Amer Hamzah Arshad, said the charges had been akin to "political persecution".

The prosecution gave no reason for withdrawing the charges, which involved a total of 403 million ringgit ($94.60 million), and the opposition Pakatan Harapan coalition described the decision as "confusing and disappointing".

"The attorney general's chambers must immediately provide a full explanation for the decision as it would reflect on the true face of today's administration," it said in a statement.

Opposition leaders and critics fear political influence could sway the outcome of the cases against Najib and other politicians as the country's new Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin is dependent on UMNO's support.

Najib faces multiple corruption charges in three separate trials linked to the siphoning off of billions of dollars from state fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and other cases.

He has pleaded not guilty and will know the verdict in the first case against him in July.

Najib, Musa and others described the cases brought against them as politically motivated.

Outrage over the 1MDB scandal was one of the main factors why UMNO lost the historic 2018 election, its first defeat since Malaysia emerged from British colonial rule more than 60 years ago.

The victors' multi-ethnic coalition, headed by veteran leader Mahathir Mohamed, splintered in February, paving the way for Muhyiddin to patch up with UMNO to form a new, Malay-dominated coalition.

After the change in government, Najib told Reuters news agency he expected an atmosphere more conducive to a fair hearing. Last month, prosecutors dropped 1MDB-related charges against Najib's stepson, Hollywood producer Riza Aziz.

TOO BAD! Totally An extreme shock that the prosecution did not attempt to prove even one charge!

Posted by RangeRover222 > 2020-06-10 10:56 | Report Abuse

The signal is unmistakable. The black days for justice and the rule of law under the Umno era have returned with a vengeance.

First, the discharge of riza Aziz, now the acquittal of former Sabah chief minister Musa Aman. Next, who? Your guess is as good as mine.

Needless to say, top guns of Umno on trials involving the theft of billions of public funds are now elated, queuing up expectantly for their turn of the good news.

I hope it has now dawned on all Malaysians that Malaysia can’t go on such rampage of rule of law without suffering a total loss of public confidence on the Malaysian polity, which will in turn bring catastrophic consequences to our economy.

It has become even more urgent that Pakatan Harapan must now double its effort to secure a regime change soonest.

This trial, with 46 charges, barely commenced. Forty-six charges are not to be dismantled so lightly.

It would be good to know what the grounds for the acquittal are. Yes, it is a full acquittal.

I will feign ignorance as to how powerful the ex-accused is and express my extreme shock that the prosecution appears to have totally collapsed without any attempt to prove even one charge.

All the case file preparation - time, money and effort - have gone down the drain. This is setting a terrible benchmark for what may come in the near future.

Posted by MoneyMaker168 > 2020-06-10 10:59 | Report Abuse

So now we see the reality of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government's commitment to bringing corrupt politicians to justice and to answer for their gross deceit and lies.

Yes, first Riza. Now Musa. Next will be Roosmama Mansor. Followed closely, no doubt, by tengku Adnan tengku Mansor, ahmad Zahid Hamidi the indon kia and Jibby Abdul Razak.

It is a disgusting and most worrying (albeit predictable) display of political interference in the judicial system.

As for attorney-general (AG) IdrUs Harun, there are no words to describe his actions, lack of actions or decisions. He is a disgrace.

He is no better than his former colleague, Mohamed Apandi Ali. And to be honest, probably worse.

Posted by FOOK YOU FOOK ME > 2020-06-10 10:59 | Report Abuse

“The prosecution had applied to withdraw the charges and wanted a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) of the accused.

“Considering the prosecution's move to drop the charges, Kuala Lumpur High Court judge Muhammad Jamil Hussin exercised his judicial discretion to grant Musa a full acquittal.”

The prosecution applied for DNAA but the judge granted a full acquittal - generosity explained beyond its meaning.

Posted by THEREALDEAL > 2020-06-10 11:00 | Report Abuse

Are they going to say that the former AG Tommy Thomas also "in principle" approved the withdrawal?

What a joke the system is. But then again, with a one-seat or two-seat majority in Parliament, can you really allow your supporters to be convicted?

Musa has obtained a full acquittal. This means it is declared he is innocent of all charges. The only way to overturn it is if it can be proved that his acquittal was obtained by fraud.

As all will also have noticed, the AG’s Chambers and MACC have kept quiet. Unlike the Riza case where they tried to give "reasons" and were excoriated by the rakyat, this time they are smarter - they keep quiet.

Posted by RangeRover222 > 2020-06-10 11:03 | Report Abuse

Mr AG, care to explain the reasons for this, or maybe it is also due to you being advised that the previous AG has agreed in principles to withdraw these charges.

Please resign if you cannot give the rakyat a proper explanation.

This is a black day for Malaysia. Seriously, we cannot trust the justice system in Malaysia anymore. The corrupt will be let off the hook one by one and those who are friends of the previous government will be attacked even if they are not corrupted.

Can it be more disgusting than this? Next, you will see Zahid, Najib, his wife Rosmah and his hotshot lawyer walk free with all charges dropped.

Posted by DoubleProsperity > 2020-06-10 11:04 | Report Abuse

Is this a surprise? I wonder if anyone out there who think that justice can still be served by this backdoor government or there is still a little hope that those traitors who betrayed Harapan and its supporters might insist that corrupter or looters be jailed.

Posted by WellingtonSky > 2020-06-10 11:05 | Report Abuse

The only way we can fix this problem is for all of us, right-thinking Malaysians , to stand up and right the wrong.

If there isn't a single Malaysian who can stand up and right the wrong, it only means that we, the Rakyat have all accepted corruption and wrongdoing as part of our lives.

Then, it is unnecessary for us to hold any dignity congress in the future.

Posted by traderstrades > 2020-06-10 11:06 | Report Abuse

Indeed, this is just the beginning of more acquittals to come.

Yes, the prosecution of Musa was biased and as such, the verdict in the name of justice is a fair one which all Malaysians must be proud of. Our dignity has been preserved.

"(Musa’s lawyer) Amer (Hamzah Arshad) further claimed that back then, the authorities decided not to prosecute Musa on grounds that there was no element of corruption and the money was a political donation."

Poor Musa, so pure and whiter than the driven snow. Falsely hounded and persecuted for no fault of his. Innocent men like these - and I'm sure there are many more - should be honoured and given gold medals.

Musa Aman is one of the finest men to walk the earth over perhaps the last 500 years. His compassion and philanthropy compare to none.

Wrongly accused by evil Nepali mountain climbers and Kiwi sheep herders, this martyr’s innocence is finally vindicated. It’s a great day for justice.

AND Anwar and PKR still dragging their feet in regard whether Tun should be PM! Anwar does not have the majority support of MPs so why is he obstructing Tun who has more than 112 MPs support? In fact Tun is working to have more than a simple majority so that the government would be stable.Anwar what has he got except his obsession to be PM?
With Anwar and PKR's support Tun would be successful in his no confidence motion against Muhyiddin. We do not need to wait until July even P H plus would takeover from PN soon.

Why not the MACC follow the money trails. first ask Musa Aman the names of all the donors of the alleged political funds. then go and interrogate all the donors whether they indeed gave the donations and then ask them the source(s) of their donation money which must be counterchecked with the Inland Revenue Dept etc etc. Its not at all logical or convincing that the former AG Tommy Thomas, had brought the 46 charges so specifically without first scrutinising all the required evidence, documentary or otherwise including statements from witnesses. All law students of criminal law are taught this basic elementary requirement that the available evidence must support all the essential ingredients of an offence before a charge could be framed. And we all know that Mr Tommy Thomas and all the DPPs under him in the AG Chambers working on these charges against Musa Aman are not first year law students! And in any case, what former AG Gani Patail had said in his said Affidavit ought to be tested in court. The current AG shud not have just accepted everything as the gospel truth

We expect some decency in people of high office. Here the AG Idrus Harun , like his predecessor Appandi have been tainted with clogged brains. Next he may say that he applies Appandi's letter that there is no case against Najib--Najib was politically victimised.

The legal mind knows that when a person in public office he cannot be seen accumulating millions of dollars in his personal or proxy account--it is corruption. Ideally the spouse and the family ought to be investigated.too. Now you find the whole gang of the coalition with unusual wealth--what to do and it becomes the norm. If it has come to that stage , the good fellows are deemed dissenters and will be punished. So you see where we are heading?

Aren't these among the reasons for the backdoor coup? Acquitting the corrupt, incarcerating the innocent, enriching personal coffers, contracting your soul to cronies, labelling as racists those who call out bigotry, curbing civil liberties, reversing institution reform, betraying the rakyat .....

They the racism? It's not helping your cause. PKR and Amanah are mostly malays too

Posted by XxXTripleXxX > 2020-06-10 11:24 | Report Abuse

Why is this racist? The majority of my fellow Malays hold people like Najib and Zahid Hamidi, Turku Adnan, Jamal Yunos etc in awe. They choose to ignore plain facts of overt corruption and instead deflect to political parties such as DAP for all the money woes. What really stands out for me is that the 70% of Malays that support those above also have been conned into believing that DAP infiltrated and took over the Tabung Haj fund while PH were in power. This was activity promoted by my fellow Malays in UMNO and PAS. We are the root cause of our ills, no one else. Many Nons fully understand that there are straight up honest Malays throughout society. Unfortunately they are a minority. A sad indictment on the majority race. So get off your racist high horse, stop accusing everyone of being racist when they state “Malay” and do something to actually change this corrupted mindset that only harms us all. How are your legal actions going? In full swing I trust. Failure is only a small step away.

Posted by WellingtonSky > 2020-06-10 11:26 | Report Abuse

Agree with XxXTripleXxX, What he is trying to imply is that the Malay community should stand up, be counted and make noise against such corrupt practice by their leaders. Don't just turn a blind eye.

The Malay community has a lot of say and power play in the political scene of this country. UMNO, PAS, AMANAH, BERSATU & PKR knows this and are capitalizing on this. So it is up to the Malay community to stand up and fight against corruption of political leaders for the good of the nation. The other races can only do that much. We need the Malay to stop supporting these politicians. You guys are the majority

It is all about politics of power the same everywhere in the world in US Europe Africa Australia Middle East China and India as well. It is the behavior of humans begining with Adam the first human on earth when his son killed his own brother because God did not accept his sacrifice. It is in the DNA of the humans only and not in animals. Allah wants humans to be a leader to manage the earth. Humans are failing in their own DNA. It is about be and it will be written in the Quran. Allah is non matter and all others is matter. Matter cannot be created or destroyed but by Allah only. This have been proven by the scientists now.

Nothing can justify corruption. Corruption is committed by those that do not truly believe in a higher power. They thought that they will never be punished because they possess the highest of power.

Corruption is not a natural occurrence nor is it normal. What you are implying is as though its part of life and we should accept it. If that is the case then perhaps there shouldn't be life.

Our job as part of mankind is to defend justice for those who are right and fight against those who are wrong. That is the reason why there are system and laws in every nation and organisation. Laws are meant to govern us so this sort of crime doesn't happen or happen less. It is anarchy if everyone do not follow the rule of law and commits crime that benefit them, without facing punishment.

If someone is allowed to steal billions from government coffers and gets away Scots free, what is stopping a layman from walking into a shop and steal whatever that they want?
