Tomei share price at RM1.08 was at bottom as US debt ceiling crisis resolved. Gold price recovers from USD 1932 to USD1966, almost 2% gain. But depreciation of RM is still 3% and dollar index at 104.22 a gain of around 3%. In other words the gold price in RM is same as gold price in 2-3 weeks ago when the gold price was above USD2000.
Therefore, the Tomei share price which is calculated in RM is at discounted price at least 10% as 2 to 3 weeks ago

Bought Tomei @ RM1.05 as gold price hits USD 1960. Moreover, the US index hits lowest in this year 100.23 amidst China inflation is zero. China buys gold for the 8 straight months, totaling 165 tonnes.
As China experience zero inflation, lower interest rate to boost economy is expected in China. This in turn will pressure the US interest to keep the interest rate. Tomei volume is the highest since 30 May.

Great potential for Tomei share price. No more obstacle. US interest raised by 0.25% yesterday, but the gold price still going up to USD1976 now. US inflation rate is only 3% last month.
Latest Tomei yearly earning EPS is 44.73cent, NAV/NTA= RM2.73. Share price is RM1.10. UNDERVALUED!

If PE is 10, RM4.47. If PE is 5, it is worth RM2.23.
Anyway, Tomei make huge earning even the gold price is @ USD1900.

just reentered at RM1.10 today, the best current (fundamental to stock price) jewellery franchise in Malaysia, PE 2.64, 61% NTA discounted price. EPS still always superb regardless of gold price. definitely undervalued

Good idea to privatise this TOMEI stock as the stock price is really undervalued. Latest finacial quarterly( APR-JUNE 2023)report, the EPS is 12.28cent, the NTA/NAV is RM2.81. Guys, the earning per share is 12.28 cents in 3 months.

Obviously, as long as the gold price is around US1900, Tomei makes great profit.

Are you better off investing in gold than in a gold proxy such as Tomei?

To answer this question, I compared the gain from gold compared to Tomei based on the short-term situation ie 2019 to 2022.

From 4 Jan 2019 to 26 Aug 2022, gold appreciated by 8.5 % CAGR. If you have invested in Tomei, your compounded annual total gain (capital gain + dividends) would be 22%.

On such a basis there is no advantage to investing in gold.

Tomei is a good consumer stock n its profit has been increasing in past 2-3 years. With undemanding valuation n PE of lower than 3...It is a good choice for those want to use gold as hedge of inflation. For buying gold in Malaysia, only 2 ways one is buying physical gold coins or gold bar, second choice buying undervalued gold retailers like Tomei.. Besides high profit level, its NTA has gone up to above 2.70 with share price of 1.14-1.17, unbelievable...
