dividends are still money. dividends are money put back directly into your pocket.

lots of investors/funds/insurance/banks like these kind of company, hence we call them stable n income giving companies. of course the div must be consistent la...

div is good! just take. if u think the share price is going down, n no hope u are welcome to sell. its your choices la.

investing is an ART la....no right or wrong wan....n its not easy. cheers

Just buy and keep, for me. Last year 2015 Nov, I bought at 1.7x -1.8x,
one year later, the price is 2.75 now. I am still young, i can wait, I am not 84 years old. I am waiting for 2017 Nov...hehehe..

The fallacy of chasing dividend if Company fundamental deteriorates:

Last time Talam offered 4 cts dividend. Talam share price was Rm1.00
Talam was dealing with property. So 4 cts dividend looks attractive?

Then After Ex dividend Talam share price chashed!

From Rm1.00 crashed to how much?

It crashed to only 10 cts (Talam crashed 90%) after ex dividend.

So don't be conned by dividend.

End of dividend fallacy lesson.
Dividend is only good if future incomes support it.

Dividend is not an important factor for picking growth stocks. If the company is really growing it needs money more than its investors.

Talam was once a darling stock in 2006 it was Rm1.00

At that time people bought because Talam gave 4 cts dividend.

I mentioned it because of its 4 cts dividend as an example of not trusting share just by its present dividend.

Last time London biscuit was Rm1.50 and gave good dividend.

But since London biscuit earning not sustainable it cuts its dividend and price crashed below Rm1.00

@calvintaneng u mentioned dividends and fundamentals. Gadang eps dropped by half this quarter which caused the drop in price. on the other hand talam had negative eps. you are comparing apple to orange. If you look carefully, netasset per share of gadang actually increased this quarter to 2.11.

I observe that ppl who dont own a share always talk it down. This is mostly due to the egoistic nature of human beings. they fear that they will regret when the stock rises and miss the boat. similarly ppl who own a share will always brag about the good and positive things. who is the final winner only God knows.

look at maybank. after ex-dividend it adjusted down the amount of that dividend pay, but eventually up b to around 7.78 after 1 month.
