Anticipating the potential impact in the event of a Ukraine conflict:
1) Oil prices could shoot up to above US$100/bbl barrel even to as high as US$125
2) Key commodities will be hit. One of those is fertilizers. Globally, 23% of ammonia, 17% of potash, 14% of urea and 10% of phosphates are shipped from Russia
3) Flight to safety. Expect risk assets to be sold off and funds inflow to drive up bond prices

Ukraine conflict:,is a psychologic war game , playing with fear factor, and forcing countries to purchase and stock up oil at high price. Russia is one pf large oil producing country, benefitted from such event.

SINGAPORE : PetroChina has started a 33.9 billion yuan ($5.33 billion) programme to expand the petrochemical capacity at a subsidiary plant in northeast China and cut refined fuel production, according to a company post and state media report.
The state oil and gas major's move is in line with a trend within the Chinese industry to reduce fossil fuel output as demand is set to peak, while raising production of higher-value petrochemicals that are imported by the Asian country.
Under the revamp, PetroChina's Jilin Petrochemical Corp plans to add 21 more facilities - including a 1.2-million-tonnes-per-year (tpy) ethylene unit - and mothball seven units, parent company CNPC said on Wednesday, without providing further details.
The new facilities will also include a 600,000-tpy unit to manufacture acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), an impact-resistant plastic, local state newspaper Jilin Daily reported, without citing details on project completion.
After the revamp, the Jilin province-based subsidiary will produce 2.63 million tonnes less of refined fuel a year but 2.8 million tonnes more petrochemical

Why would it be bad? Pchem is servicing south east Asia with 12,800,000. While jilin total production is 6,780,000 TPA capacity. One is in North East China servicing China customers, the other is in South East Asia, serving the fastest growing populations in the world in Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia.
And more importantly, pchem profits is 50% from urea fertilizer serving the palm oil plantations... What did that have to do with Jilin?

with CPO price above RM6000 per ton, d oil palm plantations will apply more Urea to increase ffb production! PetChem profits is 50% from urea fertilizer serving the palm oil plantations.
It now plans to use Urea produced from its wholly-owned Petronas Chemicals Fertiliser Kedah (PCFK) unit as feedstock to produce the melamine.
“This is a significant milestone for PCG (PetChem) and further strengthens its strategy of diversifying their product portfolio.

Based on our study, PetChem has the highest stock price correlation to Brent crude oil prices. If anything, given the recent strong rally in oil prices, we believe PetChem can serve as a trading proxy for investors looking for exposure to oil prices within the sector, noted Kenanga in a report last Friday.

What do you mean red colour? My pchem is up so much this year from 8 to 10.... And I still enjoy 46 cents dividends. And more to come as increase production capacity.
When you look at businesses to invest in during covid, you try your best to find business that need minimum manpower, and are commodity based industries as that will show the most price power during this period. Steel, aluminium, oil etc those are the building blocks for the downstream industries. Why pchem is so stable because the production is automated a lot

Pchem has every thing going for it..........Russia is a big producer of fertilisers. Plantations doing well, fertilizers surely do well. but none of that matters when things go bad for equity.

Pchem fundamentally solid counter. Bought from RM8 in early 2021 and now slowly but surely climb to around RM10 once factoring dividend. Price doesn't go up very fast like tech, but if you buy and hold for long term, can sleep well at night.

RECODA briefed by Sarawak Petchem on upcoming methanol production facility
We received a briefing today from Sarawak Petchem Sdn Bhd on the construction progress of a 120-acre mega methanol production facility next to the Sarawak Petrochemical Hub in Tanjung Kidurong, Bintulu, which serves as an ideal hub for energy-related development due to its access to feedstock, being the landing point of offshore gas fields and its close proximity to existing gas pipelines.

KUALA LUMPUR (April 13): Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (PetChem) fertilizer and methanol (F&M) supply tightness persisted amid the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Maybank IB research analyst Anand Pathmakanthan said geopolitical turmoil in Ukraine continued to drive ASPs higher for most of PetChem's key products, with the F&M segment chalking record highs in March.
"Having already completed two major turnarounds this year and given its solid operational track record (more than 90% plant utilization since 2016), PetChem is set to benefit from the elevated ASPs for the rest of 2022," he said.
He maintained his "buy" call on PetChem, and revised up his target price to RM11.20 from RM11.

Feeling FOMO now, i was though this stock is overvalue because 2 warrants are going to expire soon i wonder there would be a pull back because the bank has to pay for the intrinsic value upon expiry. Even in glove warrant never once the bank paid after the expiry unless i miss out any. Should have purchased it earlier it seems.
Let see if it really hit RM 11.

@New_Investor92 still not to late to buy a little bit. If it trends up, untung some, if it trends down, cut loss. Been holding Pchem for the past year, and partly covers losses in tech and gloves. Pretty good I'd say :)

Can someone enlighten me on the expiry warrant? Why the intrinsic value isn't tally and i know the time value is going to be 0 which is the premium. E.g warrant PCHEM-C66 --> premium value (0) + intrinsic value( 2.1) =Rm2.1
However the price is 0.115.
@New_investor92
Strike Value : 8.2
Underlying Price : 10.30
Ratio : 18:1
Warrant value = time value + intrinsic value
Warrant Value = time value + [(10.30 - 8.20)/18] = ~0.115
Sorry i mistakenly given a wrong formula and just check under the indicator got value and plus those 2 items will do.
Cheers!
