Business Background IOI Corp Bhd is one of the world’s largest integrated palm oil producers. Its operations include oil palm plantations and manufacturing divisions. The plantations are monitored to check oil palm nutrient status, seed breeding, ground conditions, and other data sources to improve the efficiency of each estate. The majority of revenue from the plantations comes from sales to its manufacturing divisions. Once the oil reaches the manufacturing divisions, it can be refined to create snack ingredients, soap, plastics, fatty acids, and other oils. The products are exported worldwide to many different customers, including some multinational corporations.

What are they? Let me illustrate 1) Future Wealth is represented by a young graduate fresh from School. Usually a young man in his mid twenties. He is still young and yet to buy his own house. He might own an affordable car or just a motorbike. What has he got? HE HAS HOPE. HE IS FULL OF DETERMINATION TO SUCCEED & FULL OF IDEAS!! But he has yet to make any real monies. His Wealth is Yet in The Future! This is represented by a very young company. Management is full of ideas, ventures & mergers. Full of energy & hope. Lots of enthusiasm during IPO. See how many write up to promote this newly listed company. Gullible people are chasing. But the stock is yet untested. Business yet to prove itself. All hype and hope for Wealth still in the future! Calvin rarely invest in this type of company. Better avoid. Why avoid? See this Most Start-up Businesses Fail in the First Five Years, Myth or Reality? Starting up a new business is proving to be a hard task for most of the entrepreneurs across the business world. The rate of failure within the first five years of business operations is still debatable and is said to be different from one economic zone to another. This is said to be depending on the various internal and external environmental forces operating in different industries. According to Griffith (2014), he postulates that over 60% to 70% of start-ups cannot survive beyond their first five years. Yes! More than 50% of all new businesses will fail within the 1st five years That is why Calvin generally avoid buying new unproven stocks. I need at least 3 years after listing to read its yearly Annual Reports before buying. Or else wait or give it a pass. In real life Established Companies will only look for qualified workers with proven experience & skill with real results or testimonies of good performance from his previous companies. They don't hire you by what you claim. They only hire proven results from skill & qualifications 2) Present Wealth. Represented by Growing Companies with Proven Income. Usually healthy PRESENT Growth that is visible. This is like a mature man in his 30s to 40s. He has bought his house & car. But the bulk of his monies still invested in his growing business. So his wealth is still being generated in the present. This is popular growth stocks. Calvin will buy some. On one condition. He looks for a fair price to enter. Best is during a market crash or overlooked by the market. BUT CALVIN WON'T PAY A HIGH PRICE FOR THEM WHEN PRICES ARE INTO OVERVALUATION. IF YOU OVERPAY FOR ANYTHING. CHANCES ARE THEY WILL UNDERPERFORM THE MARKET FOR A LONG TIME TO COME LATER. 3) Past Wealth. This is an old matured person in his 50s, 60s, 70s or even 80s He once was a young graduate with Vision. He moved on to be a very successful businessman in his prime. So he has used his earnings to buy lots and lots of Assets like Lands, properties, warehouses, shophouses & other investments of Value. CASH OR EARNINGS CONVERTED TO REAL GOOD SOLID ASSETS - SO HIGH NTA REFLECTED IN BOOK VALUE. As he is already old he slows down. He takes less risk. He looks for Capital Preservation First with a View to Growth. But usually things are more settled as he is no longer as hungry like he was as a fresh graduate once. So I avoid buying stocks with "future growth" hype. Selectively buying Present Growth Stock if I SEE VALUE. And love buying into PAST WEALTH STOCKS OF IMMENSE VALUE SELLING AT DEEP DEEP DISCOUNT I avoid the young man company with hope of future wealth. I will buy some (only selectively) the mature company of present wealth if they sell at reasonable prices. There seemed to be a corresponding market price uptrend. The ROA has since declined and so has market prices. But when you look at the past 10 years ROA vs market price pattern, you can see that the current market price is lower than those from 2017 to 2021. We pay tribute to the plantation sector that has contributed immensely during the pandemic. While not undermining the sacrifices by the front-liners and others in the fight against COVID-19, this sector has played its part in ensuring food security, job security, and health security not just for the nation but the world over. Despite rising cost challenges and falling output, the sector still made huge monetary contribution of >MYR23b over the past 4 years in various forms of direct and indirect taxes, and contributions. *>MYR23b in “social” contribution to the grateful for* Between 2020 and 2023, the plantation sector has contributed approx. MYR6.1b in windfall profit levy, MYR3.7b in export duties, MYR1.3b in MPOB CESS (see Fig.1), MYR0.2b in Prosperity Taxes, >MYR6b in Sabah and Sarawak Sales Taxes (our back-of-the-envelope estimates), and easily >MYR6b in corporate income taxes and individual taxes (by the smallholders) to the Malaysian government . The sector is said to be among the highest tax contributor in terms of total taxes (including windfall profit levy, export duties, CESS, and Sabah and Sarawak Sales Taxes, in addition to corporate taxes). Monies collected by the government were channelled to (among others) nation building and running of many social programmes including free COVID vaccinations given to the people and cash handouts given to the needy during the pandemic. *Food & health security roles often taken for granted* Palm oil holds more than 50% market share in the global vegetable oils trade. Hence, its continuous availability is crucial to global food security as well as health security. Throughout the pandemic, palm oil exports never stopped as the government allowed palm oil cultivation to proceed. Besides food use, the continuous availability of palm oil and palm products also meant there was the much-needed ingredients to make personal cares and cleaning products such hand wash, soap, laundry detergents, hand sanitisers, etc that the world desperately needed in its fight against the highly infectious COVID-19 virus. *Job security for the locals as well as guest workers* Many people lost their jobs at the start of the pandemic and had to draw down their hard-earned life savings to make ends meet. Prior to the pandemic, the sector has a strong workforce of 437,400 in Malaysia comprising local and guest workers. During the pandemic, the plantation sector was among the few granted special approval by the government to operate. Social distancing at workplace was inherent in the estates given that one worker typically covers more than 10 hectares of estates, providing a naturally safe working environment. Workers were even given free COVID vaccinations by their employers. At the height of the pandemic, outsiders had limited access to the staffs’ housing quarters and estate operations to ensure the safety of their workers and families. While country borders were mostly closed initially, guest workers remained employed throughout and were paid decent wages (plus incentives) that allowed them to repatriate the much-needed income to provide for their families back home (presumably equally affected by the pandemic). Well Done Guys! 11/03/2024 10:49 AM bisonbull What to expect from IOICORP? Average TP by IB stand at RM4.30 to as of today, but stock price down to RM3.70. Research house all have good news on IOICORP, why price not in line with expectation ??? 02/07/2024 4:40 PM dragon328 https://klse.i3investor.com/web/blog/detail/dragon328/2024-07-10-story-h-157080867-IOIPG_A_Property_Giant_Rising_to_be_a_Potential_5_Bagger For leisure read 10/07/2024 4:42 PM Mabel Malaysian palm oil exports and inventory levels in July surpassed market expectations, with robust exports contributing to a reduction in stockpiles. Exports surged by 39.9% month-on-month. This increase was primarily due to higher orders from key importing countries, such as India and China, for July shipments. Palm oil production has resumed its upward trend, rising 14.0% month-on-month in July to 1.84 million tonnes, signaling the onset of the seasonal high-production phase. Kenanga also maintains a Neutral outlook with a strong upside catalysts, such as CPO prices surging to trade between RM4,000 - RM4,500 Let’s look at the general gross profit for Crude Palm Oil (CPO) in Malaysia and Indonesia. Malaysia Gross Profit: The gross profit for Malaysian CPO producers can vary, but it generally ranges from RM 1,500 to RM 2,000 per tonne. This is based on production costs of around RM 2,000 per tonne and average CPO prices ranging from RM 3,500 to RM 4,000 per tonne. Indonesia Gross Profit: Indonesian CPO producers typically enjoy higher gross profits due to lower production costs. The gross profit generally ranges from USD 400 to USD 600 per tonne. This is based on production costs of around USD 300 per tonne and average CPO prices ranging from USD 700 to USD 900 per tonne. As you can see the Indonesian Farmers are happily dancing while the Malaysian Farmers will need to monitor their production cost with the 52% increase in Diesel Price in Peninsular Malaysia. Hopefully the volume in revenue can cover this cost. 18/08/2024 11:59 PM Mabel Moving forward… Time for our plantation to break new frontiers to cover these 52% increase in Production cost. Beside CPO, Plantations can be potentially significant renewable energy players in mid to long to long term. Palm oil wastes to energy, vast landbank for solar energy, CPO for biodiesel like B20 and B60 etc , 19/08/2024 12:10 AM kl_guy With FCPO up in RM4000 level , we might see a value in IOICORP if hit Rm3.68 resistance level. Currently IOICORP break 10, 20 , 60 , 100 , 200MA which very bearish .
