Since I wrote about Media Prima on 12 July 2015, share price has come down substantially.
Because of that, I was expecting a horrible set of result, probably with EPS around 2.5 sen. But this evening, Media prima announced its latest quarter result with EPS of 3.96 sen. It was indeed a pleasant surprise.
The company also declared 3 sen Dividend.
Media Prima's results is seasonal in nature. The most appropriate comparison is between this quarter and June 2014 quarter, which I highlited in green and blue respectively.
Revenue wise, this latest quarter is lower than June 2014 by 6%. However, profit after tax was 16% higher, driven by higher EBIT margin of 15.9% (vs 12.5% in June 2014).
This is not surprising as the group undertook a Mutual Seperation Scheme that cost them RM78.9 mil but will save them RM39 mil per annum, or RM9.9 mil per quarter.
For details of the performance of the group's various divisions, please refer to the table, which is self explanatory.
Please don't rush in to buy tomorrow, because I want to buy first. Ha ha

Well their television dramas and live shows seem to do well with over 2 million viewers according to Nielsen. Just because you dont watch, doesnt mean other dont. plus they also have strong following online and people can view using their devices. They are also banking more on the local content coz thats where the viewers are. So they pretty much in good shape i reckon.

I totally agree with what you said above
First of all, I agree that when come to READING, many people do it online nowadays. So if you tell me that websites are replacing newspaper, I can't really disagree with that. It is consistent with my real life experience (I am one good example)
However, when come to WATCHING, I just cannot relate it to my real life observation. Do people ditch their TV and instead sit in front of computer to WATCH ?
WATCH what ?
If you were previously a TV3 viewer, do you nowadays sit in front of computer to watch Youtube ? Watch what from Youtube ? TV3 and Youtube displays totally different content, one simply doesn't replace the other
Until somebody is able to provide a more concrete explanation, it seemed to me that TV getting out of fashion is more a myth than reality
