Do you know Jura's sales in 1H/17 and if the pattern continues to be reflected in Uchitec's results?
Jura may have other vendors, including some in China, and so the correlation may not be perfect.
That could be the reason Jura's sales in 2016 were higher than in 2008, but not Uchitec's.

If Jaycorp's price tanks, it's because industry conditions changed. Prices don't tank for no reason.
If Jaycorp's earnings drop, how can it be assumed the dividend will be maintained? That's not a reasonable assumption.

For those in Forest City, assuming they'll even live there, they can apply after 10 years, but it's still not a right. I see in the papers many Indians have been here 50 years, they still can't get blue IC.
As for half a century, who'll wait for that? And even then, Msia can refuse to grant.
Filipino maids in HK sued the govt for citizenship because they worked in HK for so long. The court ruled there's no right. Its the sovereign right of govt.

There's no right of citizenship for 2nd or even 3rd generation. It's for the govt to grant or not, its absolute right.
They'll be here or not for their holiday homes or investment properties only. Just because you buy a house in UK or Aust doesn't give citizenship to your 2nd generation.
Blue ICs for 1st generation and bumi status for 2nd generation are for muslims only.

Can you help with the page in Buffett's 2002 Letter where he stated he's willing to pay 7x EV/EBIT for 8-10% growth? I couldn't find it.
I only found his description of EBITDA as a "pernicious practice," and in another Letter, described it as an "abomination."
Why would we leave out tax or interest expense, unless we're planning a takeover?

Tan KW, is there a tradition those on the honour roll of top 10 results are automatically included in the competition?
Or if the list comprised only early birds, almost all unknown, nobody may bother to follow it, and that would make i3investor a less visited website.

May be too early for Huawei n Xiaomei to celebrate. US cud impose import tariffs, with caution that China cannot retaliate, or it'll face escalated tariffs.
In a total trade war, China loses trade surplus of US$360 bil a year. That's the basic data point. It's complicated, of course.
But I'd agree, Trump will probably stop US cos going out. I'd expected aircons getting import tariffs coming back from Mexico - that was what he campaigned - rather than a tax incentive.
That rather than trying to bring production home, or broad-based tariffs, which are needed to narrow the horrendous trade hole, but he hadn't created the decades-long problem. It's not his job to ask Americans to consume within its means.

If AirAsia keeps proceeds from sale of Asia Aviation, that would bolster its B/S, but the market is hopeful or counting on proceeds going out as a special dividend. In which case, it loses its operating profit from leasing, while B/S remains highly geared.
One difficulty in AirAsia at this time is its business model based on USD loans while revenue is in Asian currencies.
2016-11-27 18:10 | Report Abuse
From your table, passenger seat sales in Sept '16 Q were RM1.078 bil while total expenses, excluding Asia Aviation, were RM1.067 bil, ie ticket sales barely covered expenses.
But that's not a bad state, as it makes a lot from ancillary income and leasing.
Like selling newspapers at RM1.20 doesn't cover production cost.
The problem the Bloomberg writer pointed out is the effect on total operating income after a sale of Asia Aviation. He did say ancillary income's growing.
After all, Tony said "Don't look at us as an airline. We are a supermarket." (quoted in edgemarkets).

Ok, moneySIFU, I agree, it's co-related. I just meant not direct in the sense its main business is not a miner selling tin ore. That's the impression people may have if we call it a tin producer.

As world's 2nd largest..., 90% of revenue was from smelting. It's mainly a smelter, not a miner. Readers may have the wrong impression.
The group doesn't profit from tin prices directly, though it has a modest-sized tin mine, which does.

Have to google if Padini's listed? A newbee? :}
One of the new investors with a good education? Very good study n charts, GoldenShares.
People were calling Padini's reached market saturation for years, but it's kept growing through more new stores. But saturation finally? How many stores is it opening, and % store count would be low over a large store base now.
Growth by same store sales would be slow.
Btw, what are the figures in the first chart?

There may be some short term impact from higher resin costs, as since Datuk Ang gave that July interview, resin prices increased about 30%. Most of that may be passed through, with some lag effect, it may have to absorb some of it too. Thanks for your report, Icon8888.

If sale proceeds from the leasing arm are retained, it would offset the enlarged USD loans.
But what if the proceeds are dividend out for the owners to repay their own loans?
And if BNM remains silent on Tony's application for USD loans, and his AirAsia stake's not increased, will he still sell leasing?

What about the question of the 42% of USD loans not hedged?
Unrealised forex losses are just "book numbers" but when repayments r due, the numbers are real at current RM rates.
RM could be higher then, or lower, no one knows, so we've a scenario at current rates.

Unusual WTK has QoQ increases in log and FFB output.
Both Taann and JTiasa had large shortfalls in log output, due to state quota restrictions, it seems.
And most planters have lower YoY FFB output due to the drought. Possibly, WTK's maturing estates made up for a lower yield.

My reservations were tin prices seem so volatile now. An understanding of the supply and demand for tin next year would be very helpful, like will a shortage persist into 2017.
