CIMB market cap is 35B, how much money to short this stock lol. You think big funds will let this happen? Exposure to oil not just on CIMB, but all banks as well. Is just Hin Leong is the high profile one. Might as well short every banks in Malaysia.

if hin leong is isolated case, then it should be alright but I don't think cimb oni lending to hin leong. If not mistaken maybank and cimb are the two banks that has higher lending amount on O&G sector. With oil price down so much, i believed all oil sectors will be affected. From upstream to downstream. Now the more important question is how long will the oil price stay this low.

Think USD 500m loan of cimb bank as good as gone. The Spore company liabilities is USD4 billion but has asset at only USD700 million only. Sure has impact on this year profit.

I remembered last year April Maybank-Hyflux loan exposure.
Maybank share prices fell when the news came out....but later everyone tend to forget about it.

Cimb exposure is USD 123m that is around Rm 500m loh...!!

Around Rm 80m is recoverable net impact to provision P&L roughly Rm 420m on the lending to oil trader hin leong mah...!!

Amount that is not recoverable is already factored in in ytd's and today's SP drop. Any good news like improve in brent, wti, and dow will push up SP tomorrow. Goodluck all
