@choysun I asked IB during Zoom call yesterday on Tenaga regarding possibility to breach of rm9 and they said strong resistance, potential for uprrise. nevertheless, but let's see if I can get Farm Fresh IPO this week, otherwise will rebook at TnB. just be careful as IRB is appealing the Tax outcome (and not so easy to give up as a lot at stake for them - several years to collect and a case reference for other companies as well) and the recent dividend is not that fantastic to attract demand for TnB

Even at RM10 a share, Maybank's dividend yield is still 5.8%, comparable to EPF's declared dividend for last year.

@jeffchan1901, the price fixing, if started on declaration date, should have completed today, average price about 8.80, so ex price will be 8.50.
Based on last year's DRP discount of about 3.6%, DRP should be about 8.20.

Can expect announcement tomorrow or Friday.

@choysun, during price fixing, 8.20 was just a 3.6% discount....
..BUT on exdate, possibility the price might be 9.30, so after ex at 9.00, will result your DRP having a 80 sen (10%) discount by then...haha

@choysun DRP portion is not much this quarter though, so percentage wise, you may not getting as much discount. Dividend Rm0.30, DRP Rm0.075 so DRP is only 25% of dividend, as opposed to 50% last quarter.

Too much DRP may not be a good thing.
1) it increases the share issue, thus diluting future EPS

2) fund which needs cash to pay dividend might sell their DRP, thus creating more selling pressure.

Some, but not too much is a win win.

@meistsk3134 yes but you will need to have twice as much shares as last quarter if you want to buy the same amount of DRP shares you did last quarter.

Secondly no long-term dividend investor wants high prices, because when prices go up yield goes down. If you are not going to sell it ever, you want prices to be low and steady so that your yield is high.

The price rise is mainly because of the dividend but it will be adjusted back soon. DRP is not everyone favour as it ends with a lot of odd lots. Where is Toilletboi? Having sold all his MBB he must be cursing hot hell.
