Fund managing firm Tradeview Capital Sdn Bhd and Phillip Research Sdn Bhd both hold the view that should a majority government be formed by the winning coalition in GE15, investors could see a rally on the FBM KLCI.

“Whether a minority or majority government is formed, we could see market recovery as some form of stability in the political landscape would be achieved.

“That being said, if a minority government is formed, despite the likely market recovery, some policy implementation risks would still remain that may deter the return of foreign investors, capping market upside,” Wong says.

On the other hand, he adds, if GE15 is able to restore political stability, the market would likely see solid recovery, with inflows of foreign interest, given the attractive market valuation and relatively healthy economic growth.

Kenanga Research notes if the election process results in a majority government (with more than 50% of seats in Parliament), the market could rally but if the polling outcome results in a minority government, it would significantly hit market sentiment.

Not surprising, the advice to investors is to stick to the defensive or value stocks that look set to gain from the expansion of the economy.

UOB Kay Hian says GE15 could present trading opportunities and thus advocates focusing on liquid and fundamentally sound companies with reasonably cheap valuations.

Haha ha... PBB is old man stock.
>>>>>

Adjusted for capital gains:
In 11.5.2006, its price was RM 1.23 per share
Today, 20.10.2022, its price is RM 4.35 per share.
DY today is 3.63%

A silly stock where you just need to buy in at a fair price and hold for a very long term.

PETALING JAYA: Investor sentiment on Bursa Malaysia will be primarily led by domestic issues such as the 15th General Election (GE15) as its decouples from the impact of external developments, which has been the case in the past few months.

Despite a sharp sell-off in Chinese stocks on the Hong Kong stock exchange this week, the FBM KLCI remained resilient and closed two points lower at 1,444 points yesterday.

The local equity market has been chalking out gains since mid-October after Parliament was dissolved on Oct 9, rising some 72 points from a low of 1,372 on Oct 13 till market close yesterday.

Market analysts believe investor expectations for a strong government in place at Putrajaya post-GE15 in late November should see the local market move higher despite the heightened risk factors and volatility in global markets.

“GE15 is drawing some funds (local and foreign) into the local market on expectations a big win for one of the parties could lead to a more stable leadership and better policy outcomes.

The fresh buying of local stocks by funds could be an early “window dressing” move triggered also by multi-year low valuations and underpinned by an improving domestic economic activity with Phua stating Phillip Research’s inhouse forecast is for the benchmark FBM KLCI to hit 1,571 points prior to Nov 19 (election day) as funds rotate money into sectors like banking and telecommunication companies from glove makers, oil and gas or even the technology counters.

stkoay thanks for sharing.
Their forecast is perhaps way too optimistic given CI alrdy recovered 72 pts & another 127 more to go to reach their hypothetical 1,571 tgt.
This is abt a 200 pt gain !
A 14.5 % gain !
In good times, this sure can go & more.
Now, with global & local economic recession & whatnot on the horizon, these guys are cooking & frying numbers

Haha, said easy but hard to do that. We never know when it's considered low and when it considers high. For pbb can buy and keep until you need money then find right time to sell.

Posted by Investmalaysiaa > 2022-10-31 12:58 | Report Abuse

Hehe, of course we cannot buy all in one time. Buy in batches. Sometimes haven’t collect enough already fly. One year 2,3 times enough. Slow and steady

Bank Negara’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has raised its overnight policy rate (OPR) by 25 basis points (bps) to 2.75%, in line with expectations.

The ceiling and floor rates of the corridor of the OPR are correspondingly increased to 3.00% and 2.50%, respectively,” Bank Negara said in a statement.

The central bank said the global economy continues to be weighed down by rising cost pressures, tighter global financial conditions, and strict containment measures in China.

These factors more than offset the support from positive labour market conditions and the full reopening of most economies and international borders.

Underlying inflation, as measured by core inflation, is projected to average closer to the upper end of the 2.0% -3.0% forecast range in 2022, having averaged2.7% year-to-date, given some demand-driven price pressure amid the high-cost environment.

“Moving into 2023, headline and core inflation are expected to remain elevated amid both demand and cost pressures, as well as any changes in domestic policy measures. The extent of upward pressures to inflation will remain partly contained by existing price controls, subsidies, and the remaining spare capacity in the economy
