SAN ANTONIO, Philippines (AFP): US and Philippine troops fired a salvo of rockets at a warship representing an enemy vessel in the disputed South China Sea on Wednesday (April 26), in the final exercise of the allies' largest-ever military drills.

It was the first time the countries had conducted a joint live-fire exercise in the hotly contested waters, which China claims almost entirely.

TakeProfits, you are right.
Long time, anything happen, all things unequal

1 thing sure, PBB is conservative, rock solid
Recession, Depression PBB still stands.
Of course price dives & can rise again.
Current situation is poor.
1) If unhappy, go EPF - 100k max,
2) fd - 4%,
3) maybe bonds - unsecured - 5 - 9+ %,
4) other stks - 1,000+ stks to choose fr
5) foreign mkts - us, spore, hk, etc.

PBB is definitely NOT most profitable stk
PBB maybe safest stk long-term though
TKO just became big shareholder SMG.
He's owner of Edge & very close to THP.
Previously owned PA Bank, rescued by THP.
Maybe later become big shareholder of PBB
He's competitive, can be white knight to PBB
If he becomes major shareholder, THP happy
They were close friends.
TKO exp & expert banking, fin, comm, digital
The Edge is leading bus publication in M & S
TKO is extremely connected.
The Edge profitable covering most sectors
Who knows what can & will happen.

I support Edge + PBB co-owned by TKO.
Bank needs cutting-edge communications
TKO & Edge can provide.
Edge & PBB can co-exist & collaborate.
Separate but work together to synergise.
Max profits for both & shareholders.
Way to win PBB edges forward.

First republic is near to collapse if no rescue plan is successful. First Republic with USD 212 bill assets is as big as our bigger banks.

Yeah more failed banks reporting......when will the next one be? Already factored in? Think again!
Yellen is finally listening. She and her team are working out a plan to shutter First Republic, selling the carcass of the bank to other, more stable players. Now Yellen needs to start focusing on other problem banks because they’re certainly out there, and figure ways to prop up the US economy. And by all means don’t cover all deposits over $250,000 like you did the last time. Doing so would just encourage more risky behavior.

If we have learned anything from all our financial crises over the years, it is that allowing the consequences of excessive risk-taking (losing money and worse) makes for the best type of financial regulation. The bailout-friendly Yellen may not be able to grasp this, but they’re harsh, teachable moments.

In the meantime, it would be nice if someone also taught Yellen to read a bank balance sheet.

Gold broke higher in the overnight session, racing above US$ 2,000 an ounce with risk sentiment sinking which saw Treasuries go higher on lower yields.

Wall Street finished down after regional banks faced scrutiny by the market despite the embattled First Republic Bank finding a home with JP Morgan at the start of the week. The KBW bank index which includes several leading regional banks, went 4.47% lower on Tuesday.

All the while the unresolved US debt ceiling issue continues to swirl and with these growing concerns for the macroeconomic environment, gold and Treasuries caught a bid.

High Inflation is here mah!
Better than to fight it by increase interest than to do nothing loh!
If we do nothing ....the samething mentioned below wil eventually still happen mah!

Yes...if we increase interest rates earlier....it will benefit the banks in terms of better profit mah.....but fighting high inflation is a very important process loh!

Lu tau boh ?

On another note, if interest rate increases above equilibrium, it means structure is broken. Costlier to do biz, means less biz expansion, less biz means less loan disbursement.. it means harder to achieve growth, as it may be offset by NPL also due to increasing rates. Let market forces decide where is the equilibrium.

Next change, real estate bubble burst due to high-interest rates?

"A lot of banks had illiquid balance sheets. They would take significant losses if they had to mark [their assets] to market,” said Ryan Nash, managing director of the financials group research at Goldman Sachs, in a webinar. Many banks had "limited to no shareholder equity and a highly correlated deposit base, particularly among uninsured deposits.”

In addition, many regional banks, Nash said, have "exposure to high-risk commercial real estate areas, such as offices.”

Because property values have declined as office vacancies have increased in many cities across the U.S., many banks are expected to encounter challenges with their commercial real estate portfolios.

"A lot of real estate isn’t so good any more,” Charlie Munger, vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, recently warned. "We have a lot of troubled office buildings, a lot of troubled shopping centers, a lot of troubled other properties. There’s a lot of agony out there.”
