It is absolutely appalling when people post comments on others assuming what they know is all it takes.

This nut doesn't know and have no idea of the length of time Ah Lek had been at the side of TSri. He has no knowledge whatso ever of the Office Politic within Higher Management and the circle close to TSri. The power plays and the MAIN REASON why TSri kept Ah Lek as the Head and had faith and trust in him......

If TSri had wanted any of his children to take over, YOU THINK HE WOULD NOT HAVE SELECTED HIM/HER and groomed the candidate himself????

TAL is the BEST man to lead PBB.

Many people in the past said PBB is an overvalued counter but PBB kept growing to be one of the largest and most solid private banks in Malaysia. All others especially GLC banks have not grown to that level because of interference from politicians. The only other bank that can challenge PBB in terms of productivity is Hong Leong Bank.

Bob said it right.

Please check below link, that is not a profile of someone who "makan gaji". Experience in banking sector this gentleman has under his belt is more than the age of the parent of some of the folks in here.

Competition is rife among all banks.
Then, there are GLC & Non-GLC banks.

Yet, Yes, PBB rises to No 2 mkt cap PLC !

Fear still grips the US banking industry. Could more banks collapse from depositors pull out? Let us hope that PMX investment mission in China can offset any funds pulled out from Malaysia and lessen the impact of a recession
Moving cash from bank accounts to money market funds is a trend explained by the fact that these short-term investments offer higher returns than traditional bank accounts. However, the depletion of bank deposits can lead a bank to a liquidity crunch, similar to what happened with SVB.

Hey, Income and Kylie Tan. For Public banks stature it should be over mr5. Very slow like old man carry tongkat, at 1 minute a step...then regress 2 steps. Banks everywhere fly but Msian banks if so slow I will bungkus sell them and stay away from our market. Also our local politics spoiling markets progress. Though current PM doing good job. If he is not around, dunno lar...

Good analysis by Warren, bank failures will be limited to banks shareholders loss. Also limited to US and European banks holding feds junk bonds. So no worries for our local banks as long as they did not hold any US government junk bonds.
“We are not through with bank failures,” the Berkshire Hathaway Inc chairman and chief executive officer said in an interview on CNBC Wednesday (April 12). “Dumb decisions” by bank managers shouldn’t be “panicking the whole citizenry of the United States about something they don’t need to be panicked about.”

Buffett said he’s willing to wager that no depositor will lose any money in the next year. Still, the billionaire investor warned that troubled bank stocks aren’t value investments because shareholders are likely to be wiped out even if the government moves to protect depositors.

“They’re not gonna save the stockholders,” Buffett said after being asked if battered regional bank stocks including First Republic Bank would be a “steal.”

Buffett said the structure of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp — which collects assessments from the banks with deposits it insures — means the federal government won’t lose money as it resolves failed banks.

“The public has the impression the FDIC is the US government,” Buffett said. “But the cost of the FDIC, including the cost of their employees and everything, are borne by the banks. So banks have never cost the federal government a dime.”

April 15): JPMorgan Chase & Co led a surge in major bank shares after the largest US lender boosted its guidance for a key profitability driver for the year.

The stock soared 7.6% on Friday (April 14) for its best day since November 2020, to beat all of its S&P 500 Index peers. Bank of America Corp, Morgan Stanley, and Goldman Sachs Group Inc joined the rally, while the KBW Bank Index climbed by the most in three weeks.

The rally deepens the disparity between the stocks of the nation’s largest lenders and regional peers.

“Goliath is really really winning,” Wells Fargo analyst Mike Mayo wrote in a note to clients. “There is no evidence of a banking crisis except that it seems that JPMorgan has been a port in the storm.”
