EDL belongs to MRCB and toll is collected by them. If government want to abolish tolls, it's either Gov buy back EDL or compensate MRCB. By compensating meaning whether got traffic volumes or not, MRCB would get a fix compensation. No need to depend on actual traffic volume. For MRCB to agree on that, it must be a fair compensation. If Gov buy back EDL, that would be great as EDL has caused MRCB to be in high debt and the ROI is not good. MRCB want to exit EDL for long and yet to get the necessary approval to dispose it off. With this announcement, it could be that Gov has agreed for MRCB to dispose EDL.
Toll compensation is not a blank cheque from govn. Only those using EDL will not pay toll. If you are from KL and never use EDL will govn pay for toll? Sure no right? Even someone in JB not 100% must use EDL how abt those not from JB?
If govt were to abolish toll, thy will hv to buy back the highway or compensate agreeable amount to money to mrcb, this will increase the cash flow. And this company is job gor friend, compensation sure shudnt be too bad one ma hahaha... my opinion
