Extend concessionaire only apply to those companies that have more than 1 highway. MRCB only have EDL. You can't extend their concessionaire and ask them not to collect toll. Then, it might as well ask them to do charity. Thing could be Mrcb sells EDL to PLUS and PLUS get concessionaire extension on its other highways while EDL remains without toll. Plus happen to own the federal highway that collect toll at batu tiga, sg rasau. And it happened that Epf is the major shareholders of Mrcb and Plus.

So do u get the pic? EDL sell to Plus and Plus abolish the tolls and get concessionaire extension for North South Highway. And the guy who has the mean to finance Plus to buy EDL is EPF. Since EPF is also the major shareholder of MRCB, the money just out from left pocket go to right pocket back to front pocket. EPF still own the highways afterall whether sell or not sell and epf didn't really spend money. Accounting wise there s movement of fund, but nett wise it still own Plus, EDL, Mrcb, no matter how you shift here and there.

It's aldy in their plan to compensate n rescue MRCB due to unprofitable/loss biz in EDL. With this disposal n with news from BM, foresee will surpass 1.30 very soon.

Normally, toll concessionaires would be compensated by the Government when their toll collection was scrapped.

BUT

Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani was reported as saying on Friday the Government might extend the concession tenure instead of offering a cash compensation.

Adcool, after preliminary announcement of EDL, what's your opinion about the share prices on 3rd november, are they going to adjust the share price back to 0.925 after issuance of new shares or stick to coming new heights of 1.030 ~ 1.190 ?

I believe it will have a temporal selling pressure and along with strong buying support on 3rd Nov. Price probably will not change much but will continue uptrend on the following days.

It won't be adjusted anymore. The price has been adjusted after the ex date for RI. I agree with MoneyUp888 that they could be selling pressure due to profit taking. Those who bout RI at 0.160+0.79=0.95 already making profit. For those who bough even lower at 0.10+0.79=0.89, they already laughing now. Imagine Mrcb up until 1.30, they would have made more than 40% profit from their subscription

It's too early to celebrate. The government or EPF may not buy out EDL at all but instead "compensate" MRCB by non-cash item like land etc. I afraid MRCB which is controlled by EPF is a vehicle make used by the government for whatever reason. Minority shareholders' interest come last.

If EDL valuation is at 1.5 billion with projected income of another 1 billion in 20 years, you would need to compensate based on the valuation and book value and future earning. Based on the news that it could be compensated via concessionaire extension, EDL should be sold then to those major highway operator. EDL has been affecting mrcb for the last 5 years and with this sale at fair price, it would be great for Mrcb. For first, it no longer need to service that sukuk loan for EDL which cost around rm60 million ++ per year. Good for cash flow and saving of interest.
