Penang ferry service to sail on - finance minister

"The iconic Penang ferry service will remain, said Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz.

He said the federal government had approved an allocation of RM30 million to the Penang Port to take over the ferry service."

Penang Port = MMC hehehe

@Juniper if you buy for long-term dividends treat it just like REIT investment la

See the consistency of dividends

If dividends are growing and/or consistent, don't care too much about the share price (of course don't fall so much that dividends cannot cover the price loss la)

Hi guys, been following this stock for quite some time. Im quite a newbie here since i only started buying stocks this year so am hoping someone for some clarifications. Im currently holding 30% of my portfolio on MMC since it seems to be a fair buy given it s NTA..growing dividend/ profitable business. But as alot may have mentioned, it s a conglomerate business, so it s supposed to be more diversified and hence stable? so i was wondering why did MMC drop from its RM2+ before 2018 till today s price, what went wrong?

@goldenamour

Go google "conglomerate discount"

Posted by goldenamour > 2020-12-19 22:14 | Report Abuse

thanks pinky, i assume it s due to bad years for the construction sectors? Hence market sentiment is poor?

Bought MMC shares 3 years ago at RM2.57 per share. I keep the shares till now.. Sad to say, it is my worst investment so far. No choice, now only start to do dollar cost averaging.

@kenw2000 that's what I was trying to tell to those stubborn people here

1. Market can be irrational for longer than you can bear
2. Price drop can be more than dividends can cover even after many years

Yes I think you should start dollar cost averaging, furthermore I think the fundamentals have improved too. Good luck!

Yes. Continue buying as long as the dividend yield beats FD rate.
