Hahahaha
deMusangking, you forgot Dato’ Sri Thong Kok Khee also shouting , “Insas is the most undervalued company on Bursa Malaysia.”

https://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/newsbreak-insas-controlling-shareholders-may-seek-waiver
A few months ago, Kok Khee is said to have told a group of friends, “Insas is the most undervalued company on Bursa Malaysia”.
As at end-March this year, Insas was in a net cash position and had deposits with licensed banks and financial institutions amounting to RM553.68 million and cash and bank balances of RM114.63 million. On the other side of the balance sheet, Insas had short-term debt commitments of RM309.83 million and long-term borrowings of RM20.48 million.
Considering Insas’ share base is 663.01 million shares, this means that Insas has net cash of 54 sen per share.
It is also interesting to note that Insas is diversified, having stakes in stockbroking company M&A Securities Sdn Bhd, property development held under Insas Properties Sdn Bhd, car rentals under Insas Pacific Rent-A-Car Sdn Bhd, 43% in the fashion retailer Melium group and Dome Café in its stable of companies. Also under Insas is moneylending and project financing outfit Insas Credit & Leasing Sdn Bhd, just to name a few of its businesses.
Its shareholdings in listed companies include 19.1% in semiconductor manufacturer Inari Amertron Bhd. Inari at its close of RM1.59 last Friday had a market capitalisation of RM5.05 billion. Thus, Insas’ stake in Inari is worth RM964.55 million, which is more than double Insas’ market capitalisation of RM477.4 million as at last Friday’s close.

Thank you
P/S: It will depend now on Dato' Sri Thong and his friendly parties whether they want to push up the price of INSAS

Posted by (HK1997 again) Philip > 2019-09-13 13:11 | Report Abuse

The one sure and true way for a share price to go up is through the growth and increase of revenue and earnings. If every year earnings and revenue goes up ( after taking into account debt management, tax payments and share dilution), the the share price will go up. Everything else is prone to financial engineering, no matter how lovely.

The 5-year CAGR of Insas share is -7.7% p.a. (2014 share price was around 1.25). The full history (32years) CAGR is only 0.39% p.a. ! (Note: CAGR = cumulative average growth rate per annum in share price).
ROE and ROA are low at 5.5%, ROA 4.1%, in conjunction with very low dividend given out over the long history show poor management of the public equity.
A review of past annual reports show that 568 million Insas warrants (4/1999- 4/2009) expired on 26/4/2009. At time of expiry 4/2009, the major shareholders owned less % warrants than their % of mother shares which appeared to indicate that major shareholders sold some warrants before expiry, thus collecting money from the public in the open market.
If there is something to learn from history, my guess is that it would be very unlikely that major share holders would have any interest in exercising the 2015-2020 warrants (expires 25.02.20) they are holding now.
In view of the above, my guess is insas share price is unlikely to rise up to the warrant exercise price (RM1.0) before 26.02.20).

Dear all,
From 3iii, “The worse philosophy is to go for gruesome companies which by definition cannot grow its intrinsic values consistently and with high degree of probability over the long term. Just look at Insas, PMCorp and many others touted by the kings of deep value investing in this forum.”

I list down the below for 3iii to tick as his measurements/reasons why Insas is considered as gruesome company:
1. Keep too much cash especially the one in gruesome AUD
Deposits with licensed banks and financial institutions: 554,786,000
Cash and bank balances: 94,273,000
Interest income: 19,969,000
2. Holding to much gruesome mark to market financial asset mostly quoted securities:
Financial assets at fair value through profit or loss: 234,233,000
IGB REITS, Omesti Berhad, SYF Resources Berhad and Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation Limited.
3. Lending too much money to VIP clients and charging a gruesome legalized Ah Long interest rate.
Trade receivables: 443,088,000
Category of loan receivables Secured: 267,455,000 and unsecured: 30,161,000
4. Gruesome internal lending: amount due from associate companies 89,571,000
5. Gruesome financial control with current liabilities:
Preference shares 130,106,000
Hire purchase payables 28,791,000
Loans and borrowings 281,654,000
Interest paid (24,881,000)
6. Gruesome associate companies:
Associate companies 437,420,000
Listed associate: Inari 19.19%, Hohup 12.2% and DGSB 25.48%
Unlisted associate: Melium group 43.4%, Winfields 40%, Numori 42.6% and others
Share of profits less losses of associate companies: 44,083,000
Dividend received 42,999,000
7. Gruesome Investment properties: 187,658,000
8. Gruesome Property, plant and equipment 161,021,000 mainly cars for rental, corporate long lease, office equipments, office building and etc.
9. Gruesome Intangible assets 26,047,000. Broking and loan shark license.
10. Gruesome Financial assets at fair value through other comprehensive income 22,971,000. Mainly long term bond.
11. Gruesome former CEO Dato’ Sri Thong only give 1 cents dividend
12. Equally gruesome newly appointed CEO Dato’ Wong only increase dividend to 2 cents
13. Gruesome 10 years continue profit record and NAPS growth.
https://klse.i3investor.com/servlets/stk/fin/3379.jsp?type=last10fy
NAPS: 2.62 with CAGR of 8.86%
14. Gruesome growth or negative growth of revenue as profit is now driven by associate companies.
15. Was promoted and still promote by 3iii gruesome nemesis stockraider, thus it must be gruesome stock
16. Market must be efficient hence a low PE must be a gruesome company.
17. Gruesome excuse of Dato’ Sri Thong and PAC hold 32.96% and thus unable to do share buyback that will trigger threshold of 33% MGO
18. Was a gruesome company in the past hence must be a gruesome company now and in future.
19. All of above.

Thank you

Consideration of possible unspoken philosophy/ belief of controlling business owners / management of a listed company may be helpful in knowing whether public share holders could benefit from the intrinsic business value. Good listed companies are those whereby the business onwers worked hard for and reward all shareholders.

The Thong family and their close associates have over the years built up to own more than 55% of Insas shares at very cheap cost by virtue of low share prices.

It is perhaps not uncommon for owners of some listed companies wanting to own up to 100%, if possible, whilst minimising their own money input. There are only two ways public investors/shareholders can benefit from a listed company, namely the share price and the dividends given out, both of which had not been realised in the long listing history of Insas.

Look at the simple nature of human loh....!!

If i ask people to chose between a bmw v perodua definitely people will chose bmw when price is not a consideration loh...!!

Lets wake up....there is no such thing as no price mah or price is not a consideration loh!!.. So if price is added in as a factor....most people will chose perodua loh...!! This is what we call value buy mah....a very wise choice loh...!!

Likewise Insas hathaway is a very wise buy bcos there are huge value preposition mah....!!

(Value investors: Benjamin Graham, Buffett, Walter Schloss, Philip Fisher, Joe Greenblatt, Bruce Greenwauld, Burton Malkiel, Charlie Munger, John Templeton, Peter Lynch, Seth Klarman, Charlie Munger, etc.)

Why have practically all value investors followed Buffett, preferring quality companies?

Maybe, when they are young and start out investing, they have an excessive desire to do well and make their mark. They tend to favour the cheapest companies, which on face value offer the greatest potential upside.

With experience and maturity, and after having stepped on a few booby and / or value traps (cheap companies in bad businesses, which languish for years, failing to create value) and their economic situation improves, their tastes tend to shift towards quality, even if they have to pay a bit more for it.

KEEP IT SIMPLE AND SAFE (KISS)

Successful investing is not magic, just keep things simple and maybe follow few investing and money rules of thumb and you’ll be fine in the long run.
