For Current Interim 2-month Period ended 30 June 2019
Berjaya Sports Toto Berhad (“BToto”) registered a revenue of RM974.9 million in the 2-month period
ended 30 June 2019 due to substantial sales contribution from its principal subsidiary, Sports Toto
Malaysia Sdn Bhd (“Sports Toto”) and from the auto retailing business operated by H.R. Owen Plc (“H.R.
Owen”).
The Group incurred a loss before tax of RM26.8 million in the 2-month period, mainly attributed to the
impairment of goodwill and assets of the disposal group relating to the Group’s leasing of lottery
equipment business in the Philippines in the current period under review. The Group would have
registered a pre-tax profit of RM51.6 million had the impairment of goodwill and assets of the disposal
group been excluded.

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 19): Berjaya Sports Toto Bhd (BToto) posted a net loss of RM41.38 million in the two months ended June 30, 2019 — its first loss-making period in 15 years since 2004 — mainly due to a RM78.43 million impairment of goodwill and assets.

The group said in a stock exchange filing today that without "the impairment of goodwill and assets of the disposal group of leasing of lottery equipment business in the Philippines" that was included under its investment-related expenses, it would have registered a pre-tax profit of RM51.6 million for the period.

The Philippine Gaming Management Corp, which ceased to be an indirect subsidiary of the group following a stake dilution by Berjaya Philippines Inc in July, is presented as the disposal group in the reporting period, and classified as discontinued operation.

Its revenue for the quarter came in at RM974.92 million, mainly contributed by sales from the number forecasting operating (NFO) business at Sports Toto Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Sports Toto) and the auto retailing business operated by H.R. Owen Plc.

No comparative figures were provided, as the group has changed its financial year end from April 30 to June 30, to coincide with the new financial year end of its holding company, Berjaya Land Bhd.

Its net profit for the 14-month ended June 30 came in at RM235.05 million, on a revenue of RM6.70 billion.

Moving forward, the directors of BToto expect that the performance of its principal subsidiary, Sports Toto, will be satisfactory, and are confident that the group will continue to maintain its market share in the NFO business for the financial year ending June 30, 2020 (FY20).

BToto's share price rose three sen or 1.10% to close at RM2.76 today, translating into a market capitalisation of RM3.72 billion. It saw some 1.83 million shares traded. In the past one year, the stock has climbed about 30%.

Acid test today for BJLAND share price performance!!!
If today's closing price is 0.225 or higher, then expect current uptrend to have many legs!
Any price reversal indicates short term weakness with support level at 0.200.
All the best!!!

Young man in 1988, I bought my first double storey house for only RM80K in Klang Valley, now the same house is worth RM400K. An appreciation of 500%. Very sure BJLand owns many properties since 1988 which has also appreciated at least 500% but has not be revalued in the books!

Just look at the big picture. The consolidated 14mths a/c for BJToto indicated a profit of RM239.5 million Vs a RM44.9million impairment provision on non monetary Goodwill for a BJToto Philippines subsidiary? Basic earnings for the period is 17.45 sens per share, out of which 16 sens per share was declared as dividends to shareholders.

Since BJLand owns 41% shares in BJToto, the dividends receivable will be 41% x 16 sens = 6.56 sens per share or 6.56 sens X 1,351,000,000 = RM886.33 million for the year which is rather profitable?

quite normal for short term player to leave first and reenter again when the price drop, so long volume is not too huge and VT is still on the boat then should be fine. Frankly, 0.215 is still low for this counter which is having huge asset value. for privatisation motive, if minority shareholders willing to sell him cheap cheap then he is definitely more than happy...lol. VT is holding 85% of the shares because he knows the intrinsic value of this company, he has been collecting cheap shares from open market
