@valueguru you did bring up a good point about HY's hedging, based on latest QR, there have 280mil refining margin swap, my guess is the 280mil will offset most of the margin gain in Q1, and assume they are doing minimal hedging in Q2 (i doubt they will not be dump to hedge when margin is all time high), we will be seeing extraordinary earnings in Q2.

dow n sp500 have corrected more than 10%,but usa's refiners are at peak prices...look at marathon petroleum,valero energy to name a few...do we need clearer signs?ya ya...pump n dumb my ass....hahaha

Even if HY doesn’t sell refined products, the trades they make by just buying Brent contract and selling crack spread, they are already earning huge money. Of course the management knew much better than the traders.

We are emerging market so we are probably 2nd or 3rd tier market. Funds will definitely goreng 1st tier (NYSE refineries) market first until they no longer have upward move potential. Then they move down to 2nd and 3rd tier markets with undervalued stocks.

When covid19 started n gloves spiked,many veterans missed the chance cos they underestimated the severity of covid19.When plantations spiked,the same thing happened to a lesser extent.Now the refiners are performing,lets see how far they can go as they too ride on the war.One thing is for certain.The trend is your friend.

I remember your post (not sure quoted from annual or quarterly report) got mentioned that HR will be great if the crack spread increase significantly. Is USd 10 considered significant. If not how about now USd 27. Hopefully current price is considered significant increase.

Guys just imagine now Hengyuan is trading at RM 10, even if Q1 results is out with EPS 60 cents (purely from inventory gain - assume nothing much from refining margin from pure bad luck), would the price drop after results?

I really dont think so...it will look forward for Q2 results already

Before QR result is out, it’s like political campaigning, each side show how powerful they can be. When result’s out, only then can see the limits.

Of course I’m pro hengyuan upward price move. The fundamentals are just too good to be ignored.
