From my understanding the hsr will mainly be a privately funded initiative.
Is the operation going to be something like the PLUS highway where the govt will guarantee a minimum sum of revenue yearly? If not then the company will need to build and operate it as a profitable entity?
To my knowledge almost all hsr project loses money but there is definitely positive benefit to the country's economy as whole. And because of this, most hsr project are undertaken as a public infrastructure project.

My concern is if it is a too risky business for YTL to be venturing into HSR as an investor?
Make good sense to bid as a contractor here, but not so as an investor - am I wrong?

No matter who win the project, as long as the project is really on, all company will be benefited.

The cake so big, all construction company will get award small small job.
Those industrial supplier like steel, cable, cement, piling, earthwork, M&E all will be benefited as well.
Those developer with landbank nearby the HSR station also will be benefited.
Bandar Malaysia lagi benefited.
All property investor benefited.
All share investor benefited.

I just can’t resist the stock price at rm2.38 and regrettably, cashed out of YTL completely.
I was disillusioned by the fact that YTLp stock price has a meteoric rise so FOMO there again, instead.
Nonetheless, tyvm YTL stock trade speculation since June, last year was so profitable for me.
Time to move on and focus my attention to YTLp now.

HSR Project time line is clearly stated RFI { Request for information} is open to any parties that are interested. The last date for submission on the RFI is yesterday I. e. 15 Jan 2024. Under the second stage of the project if the response is positive then RFP { Request for Proposal } stage. Participating companies are required to submit all the details. The Transport ministry and the Cabinet will then discuss and deliberate on each of the project submission presented by MyHSR Corp chair by the Prime Minister for the design - built - operate - transfer {DFBOT} model.

If it's strictly based on private initiatives on HSR { DFBOT} hard to think of any companies willing to participate without government support. You need deep pockets and the expertise to design-built - operate-transfer { DFBOT} model
