aa will be paying about 1.3 billion to shareholder on 28th...u can guess how much will b used to buy bak aa shares...may b only 10% will buy bak...also enuff to push the stock up...at least the share will not fall anymore...

Isn't AA will have to pay more to lease back the planes sold to to Castlelake to run the operation? Castlelake aim is to make money from this plane leasing business

Budahsaham, if you are really concern about leasing, then you should know that the leasing agreement is for the period of one year only, to smooth the transition.

Airasia bought the planes much cheaper than others because of the volume discount (and good negotiation skill and ability to collaborate). Now AirAsia is in the business of selling planes, like a dealer of AirBus.

aa might b paying more on lease ..but also free up cashflow...lower debt n interest saving...lesser tax due to chargable expense on depreciated planes...with new a/cing standard coming up..may b its wiser to lease planes then holding them as assets...

Airbus actually can sell to anyone.

But, anyone can lease to any airlines operators? The tenant is the best person to market the airplanes. Of cos, it is not free and should considered the time value of money.

That's make the organisation different from normal layman.

What I know is TF and DK can borrow money to invest their AA shares and the loan not yet repaid. They are same boat as AA shareholders, I see no reason the corporate confidence is not there. Don't be surprised if they offered management buy out (mandatory offer) when times come.

Buying aircraft from airbus is not like buying car. You book today, plane only be delivered in 3-5 years time. Also airbus will not simply sell to anyone. Previously AA booked > 100 aircrafts from airbus which will last to 2030+
