its not so much on spending on the cards....AA is after expanding their biz beyond travel.

i3lurker, pls note that for banks, their income comes from the credit card commission charges and not on how much the card holder spend. If spend RM1k, income to the bank is only RM10+ after deduction of royalty to Visa/Master. But of course if the card holder cannot afford to pay the RM1k and need to pay by instalment, then the interest will be additional income to AA.

Up to July this year, sign-ups had exceeded 750,000 and transactional volume has been growing 20% month on month.

With current 750,000 X RM100 per month. Revenue per year is RM1 billion

i dun deny if the userbase is huge, the profit generated is also quite significant. Giving a RM100 per card is conservative as not everyone spend so much since Bigpay user are more youngster n the nonbank.If your friend spend 170k then i think he will not b using bigpay.

N bigpay currently dun profit much off forex exchange.thats their strong point. they earn from overnite interest on the payment sitting in their a/c.

but bigpay prospect is good when launch in all ASEAN countries. User base can cross few million easily . Thats a golden goose laying eggs.
IF Got Virtual Bank license. They can start giving interest rate n they can pool a lot of fund n start giving loans to Airasia n AAX in preferential rate. Thus ditching the traditional bank reliance.And saving cost for AA n AAX in long term. And making decent profit in the mean time.

Analyse n Analyse...but too much analysis can really make you scare or dare not take calculated risks.
