SSLee

I speculate or project the annual earnings of Harta will continue to decline to about RM 600m in the near term, mainly due to contracting ASP and profit margins.

At RM15B market cap today, you are paying a forward PE of 25.

There will be a period of consolidation within this industry and severe competition will kill off many newcomers to this industry. Mah Sing has indicated exiting this sector. Why did they even enter in the first place?

Closed today at 4.19. Probably more pain next week as it goes ex dividend on 25th May, Wednesday.

May breach 52 week low of 4.15. Nothing much we can do. It has to just run its course.

I may even consider doubling down if it reaches RM3.00.

Look at the "bright side", I can still queue up at Yayasan Hartalega if the number continue rolling down the hill. It is a good company with even their own employees laughing all the way to the bank during good times, we as the shareholders should give our full confident to the management.

Dont worry, look at the latest motto of the company. The management predicted, even in advance the condition of the market in the coming days and came out with the motto Grounded in Values, not 6ft underground. They even have the Yayasan set up where worst case scenario, i think i can still queue up for my food there.

good company but not the right time to buy, glove will go thru a winter and the chart will be flat for a few years, only then you enter for long term once many competitors die or consolidate. harta will still be there as their margins are the highest and have loyal customers, therefore 10 years from now, it will be higher, but for now, it will go sideways or down.

The best support i see for now is at the 3.425 region. Losing that will open doors to lower prices in the 1.50-2.50 region. So plan your trade accordingly.

Nope I don't believe any self proclaim fortune teller. Where were you when EPF bought millions of units in late March ~ early April? EPF is merely trading the volume that is marginal to their total holdings in Harta. Always come in during red days and call for people to sell is just classic fear mongering. If you have solid analysis that suggest price will drop further, go ahead and share it for constructive discussion. Don't act like a fortune teller on red days and then disappear on green days.

Not denying that glove sector (including Harta) may not see good days (in terms of share price) in the immediate near future due to existing circumstances. But recommending financial decisions based on your fortune telling is just a poor act.

Agreed with yourquirkyways29. Though harta is a "frozen chicken" shares, doesnt mean there is a need for "chicken run". To be a bit sarcastic looking at the number rolling down hill, one may need to queue up at Yayasan Hartalega. But still in the end of the day it still goes back to the fundamental of investing shares. Little birdie tell me the Kuan senior is a analytical businessman. I will just crossed my finger and see how the Kuans going to weather through this big thunderstorm.

EPF could be trading on Harta, after all, they delegated some of their money to various fund houses, therefore we will never know if they make or lose money. but seeing how they stop becoming substantial holders of TopGlove, they've probably gave our noticed to all the other funds under them not to trade glove since March.

EPF is leaving all glove counters.

I think the obvious answer is that historically hartalega profit margins, customer reach and market size ( and patents) are on a different scale. If you look historically hartalega growth rate and return on investment and kossan growth rate is on a totally different scale.

I am a new learner in stock market. What I notice is, Harta is on Nitrile glove market which most market player is producing including developer who has no experience on glove also produce this product. Meanwhile, China major producer like Intco also their key competitor. Will this business sustain due to supply too high and demand will probably starting to drop due to the available of vaccine and most country started to move to endemic phase? Will this impacting their share price? EPF also starting to dispose glove stock. Thank you.

Disposable Glove ASP will be determined by supply and demand condition. At current and for the next few years, supply will exceeds demand.

What happens when supply exceeds demand?

skynet2022, just look at harta history before the pandemic ASP was low , Harta survived . Harta will survive this low ASP fiasco , just wait and see. will probably fall to rm3.80...rm3.60 level. When ASP to low, new setup glove player will lose money ....until they close down or sell off their business. This will take about 3 years from now. There are rumour MahSing is sell their glove factory . More new will player existing this LOW ASP business. Long Run, top glove and Harta will survive. Question is what price are you buying in these 2 stock ?

Posted by Skynet2022 > 2022-05-29 11:29 | Report Abuse

in the 80's, when AIDS become a issue, a lot of glove factories being setup, then it started to consolidate, small factory being acquired by big company.
I think same thing heppen here.
China's key players already setup their facility with modenised technology, while a lot of local players factory due to already long established, perhaps the efficiency will not be as good as these China's newly setup factory. Glove, especially examination glove is volume orientated. They need mass volume to substantiate their cost. With spike in gas price, labour cost (minimum wages), tranportation cost, etc... will their ASP able to cater for their operating expenses and giving better profit margin.
Situation in 10 yrs ago is different than now. Just trying to understand.

Meanwhile, Malaysia glove company also facing competition from Thailand and Vietnam glove makers. Now EPF started to dispose their share in glove stock, just thinking that their share price will probably drop further and need more time to observe before enter. Just sharing my thought.

Malaysia glove company not only facing Thailand and Vietnam makers....They also need to face challenges from China, Indonesia Brunei Singapore India Middle East as well as Africa , North America and also Europe glove maker company ....the ASP definitely will keep dropping ...

Majority of glove makers located in Asia. Same region, similar operational advantages, similar competition advantages and most probably deliver to the similar group of customer in oversea country.
If product is examination glove, no additional competitive advantages, except pricing due to lower glove weight, a commodity product, probably in red ocean now onwards till the merging and acquisition taking place and settle down.

Are there challenges in the glove sector? Plenty.

Do I believe that Harta can navigate through it? For now, from the results we see and what the management says, I believe so.

Is it possible to buy Harta at a cheaper price? Maybe. Timing the market is hard and i dont have plenty cash lying around to trade, do what you want with your own money.

When will the management's ability to navigate through these challenges be reflected in share price? Nobody knows, don't believe in bomohs on i3 that pulls share prices from their coconut - even a broken clock is accurate twice in a day.

Wasn't paying attention to the market for the past three weeks, lol. Despite all the naysayers here I am still holding on to Harta. It will be a rough time for the gloves industry, with demand resuming to normal, but prices of raw materials and wages rising, putting a squeeze on profit margin. Unlike other gloves companies Harta still holds a premium because it can eke out a better margin than the others. This time smaller companies will get squeeze out of existence and larger companies coping with higher costs. For Harta, I am betting on the management more than the immediate gloves market.

Lots of comparison number crunching (headache), lots of related news (confusing), lot of predictions (crystal ball) ...in the end of the day it still goes back to fundamental, the company itself...everybody talk bout buy and sell short term, nobody talk bout long term and the real value of investment. Besides the desirable dividend, ESG is also considered as a "valuable assets" of a company. So far the company is solid as a rock diamond with no negative news except employee laughing all the way to the bank together with the shareholders during good time, donations/charity to the community, milions donated during the pandemic (Just hope this frozen chicken will not end up us queuing at Yayasan Hartalega instead, LOL) ......for those still holding this frozen chicken, think bout its contribution to the society the community on our behalf as the minority shareholders...we should be proud....coz in the end of the day there is nothing much one can do when you are stucked with a frozen chicken, buy also may get u bury alive, sell also will get u end up 6ft down under...LOL
