As for Kiran, I think your figure shd be at the high side. If the average salary of the retrenched workers is $10k/person & average employment period is 10 years & Maxis managed to retrench 450 staff, the total compensation paid cud be $10,000 X 2.25 X 10 mths X450 staff --> $101 million.

Therefore, I think, the total estimated compensation paid out to retrenched workers shd be
around 101 - 150 millions.

Unless with a new big buyer like Vodafone, the current market share price of Maxis can not move up significantly.

Maxis is working very hard on their internal clean-up, it thus somehow indicated that they already have potential "partner(s)" behind them.

Are you talking abt 3G or 4G or Homes Broadband ?
Possibly they haven't rolled out the HSI service in all the places within the country.

In last AGM, Maxis' Chairman, Raja Arshad indicated that
the 40 sen yearly dividend shd be fine for year 2013 only.

I couldn't remember if Maxis' CFO had promised to pay
40 sen up till 2015, but I did remember he said the interest
rate of loan which Maxis borrowed to pay the dividends was
very low.

Possibly they can continue to pay the 40 sen dividend up
till 2015. I will be more than happy if they do that & after all,
it is quite common in US to get loans to pay dividends.

They shd stop borrowing once their gearing ratio reached 2%.
If I am not mistaken, TM's gearing ratio for 1st half 2013 was
2.25%

Come on James, don't feel sorry for Maxis staff. They are paid lot of $$$$ to leave Maxis.
Hehehe... just collect 8 sen dividend from Maxis on 29-11 & now the price increased 21sen to $7.21 :) Siapa boleh lawan Maxis ? Hahahaha.. happy :)

Maxis staff shd be very happy - had got paid well in the past and now can walk away with a nice package. Hopefully, the higher mgt more expensive ones
are also gone. Co. is now slimmer and more agile and thus more profitable.

Having cheaper workforce doesn't mean profitability. it is only temporary operational cost reduction. Only stupid management and directors sees that as profit. Pay peanuts you get monkeys!

Small adjustment in KLCI for past few days.
Question is, will recession hit this market in 2014 ?
Personally, I don't think so. Everything seemed too good in the market,
2014 would be a bullish year. But also watch out & alert for some unpredicable events, like possible war between China & Japan etc
