Seacera Group Bhd will form a China-Malaysia consortium with three companies in preparing and submitting response to the prequalification and bidding for the proposed Warisan Merdeka project.
Two companies are from China – Sinohydro Corp Ltd and Shanghai Construction Group Co Ltd (SCG) – while the local firm is SPAZ Sdn Bhd, Seacera said in its Bursa filing.
“The percentage participation and interest of the parties would be 60% for SCG/Sinohydro and 40% Seacera/SPAZ,”
Seacera said if the consortium is awarded the project, the execution of the contract would be under the name of SCG-Sinohydro-Seacera-SPAZ Joint Venture.
Seacera said the partnership was a result of the various meetings held in Beijing on May 30 and 31, in conjunction with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s six-day visit to mark the 40th anniversary of the bilateral relationship between China and Malaysia.
The first major contract for the 118-storey Warisan Merdeka tower project has already gone to Pintaras Jaya Bhd, valued at RM74 million for foundation works.

The company, which struggles to eke out decent earnings from its original tile-making business, said it was proposing to the Government to build the first-ever electrified fence over the Malaysian-Thai border. Details over how this proposal came about are scant. Was it an unsolicited bid or is the government thinking about a solution to plug the leaks in its porous borders.
A new fence will clearly help prevent illegal cross-border activities such as smuggling. But considering that this will be a mega project of sorts – the electrified fence being proposed by Seacera will stretch some 506 km along the border – perhaps the right thing to do is to call for an open tender to ensure efficient price discovery.
The country needs to know it is getting the best expertise to build this much-needed infrastructure at the best price possible. The last thing we would need is a fence that isn’t built well and one that does not take advantage of all latest technology available in the market, such as CCTV monitoring systems. Very little is also known about the track record of Seacera or its partrner Intelligent Fence (M) Sdn Bhd.
More details ought to be divulged, such as how much this fence is going to cost and is the Government getting the best contractor to build it, based on their experience and cost structure.

KUALA LUMPUR: Seacera Group Bhd plans to undertake a resort development project and a hospital in Malacca on a piece of leasehold land.
The company said on Friday its unit had inked a conditional sale and purchase agreement with Sri Alai Sdn Bhd to purchase 15.23ha of leasehold land for RM32.75mil purchase consideration.
Then RM32.75mil would be satisfied partly via cash of RM6mil and the balance via issuance of 26.75 million new Seacera shares.
After it has completed the land purchase, it plans to build water chalets, service apartments and convention center. It also to construct a building for a proposed private hospital.
"These intended developments are to promote health and eco-tourism in Malacca," Seacera said.
