若疫苗无法如期送货　凯里：加购科兴或国药

（吉隆坡16日讯）科学、工艺及革新部长凯里表示，若大马额外订购的阿斯利康疫苗以及辉瑞疫苗供应无法如期送抵，那当局有可能购买国药（Sinophram）疫苗或再加购科兴（Sinovac）疫苗。

询及辉瑞疫苗疫苗的详细交付时间，他指出，他无法提供太详尽的时间表，因为他们还在与疫苗供应商协商，通常是一次性获得2周的时间表。

“但是，辉瑞疫苗供应商已答应我们，将在2021年第三季度，也就是7月、8及9月供应2500万剂疫苗，以应付我国的需求量。”

针对泰国是阿斯利康疫苗东南亚主要的代工厂，该国的疫情恶化是否将限制疫苗的出口，他指出，当局将会密切留意此事的发展。

“我们可能会采取双边协商的方式，确保阿斯利康疫苗供应不会受影响。”

Trevor777 @Star,....when Pfizer gets into Malaysia and provided FREE by MOH, there will still be some, perhaps a few hardcore opting for Sinovac.

For example, as reported in a local News media, Singapore provides FREE Pfizer and Moderna, but should you choose Sinovac, you'll have to pay for it at USD25. Also, those vaccinated with SinoVac will not be add to the country's tally for Immunisation Data, and is NOT recognized.

Amid news reports on the government's plan to stop administering Sinovac Covid-19 vaccines in Malaysia once its supplies end, Pharmaniaga Bhd clarified in a statement today that the discontinuation is actually due to the company meeting its obligation to supply a total of 12 million doses. Pharmaniaga said its contractual obligation with the government is to supply 12 million doses of the vaccine by Pharmaniaga LifeScience Sdn Bhd (PLS), between May and November 2021. In the meantime, the group said it will continue with the supply of Sinovac vaccines to State governments, government agencies and the private sector.

KUALA LUMPUR, July 16 — Malaysia already has a contingency plan if Thailand halts exports of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines made there, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin revealed today.


Khairy who is also the coordinating minister for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP) said that the government will hold bilateral talks with its northern “good neighbour” to continue supplying Malaysia the much needed vaccines.


“We are keenly monitoring the developments which are happening in Thailand, whereby the latest news says that there are views to halt export.


“So we will be discussing this matter on a bilateral basis with Thailand, which is our good neighbour, so that the supplies to Malaysia from the AstraZeneca factory in Thailand are not disrupted,” he said in a news conference online.


He gave an assurance that the government already has a backup plan if the bilateral talks do not succeed.

“We have a Plan B. Plan B is to increase vaccine purchase from Sinovac as we already have the fill-and-finish facility in Malaysia — Pharmaniaga.

“So Pharmaniaga knows if there is any contingency, we may call on them to produce for the federal government,” Khairy said.

Thailand’s National Vaccine Institute Director said its government is considering regulating production of AstraZeneca’s vaccines within its borders for domestic use and may stop exports, international news agency Reuters reported two days ago.

KJ already announced for commercial use. For the future of private/commercial use, those with fill & bottling facilities hold the most advantage like Pharmaniaga n Solution. Another plus point for CanSino is a single dose jab. Imagine after the end of PICK, demands for booster dose and for industrial, manufacturing n plantation with mils of foreign workers. At that time, there will be no large scale of vaccination n to import vaccine like Pfizer/AZ will post challenge due to storage, shelf live n volume of scale.
