Today Stars reported that KWAP bought into F&N Nutrition S/B at PE of 22. So QL PE for FY 2017 is estimated to be 24 and FY 2018 to be 22.

Simply the yield does not justify. Their businesses are capital extensive which drains its cash flow. Very positive if one is prepared to hold for long term 3 to 5 years. Can consider for your kids' investment. Malaysian's version of Nestle in the making.

convenience store is not suitable for malaysia. if malaysian want to buy thing they will drive to hypemarket to buy much more convenience. i go to the nearest 7-11 is about 5min drive i go to aeon also about 5min, why i go 7-11 to spend more?? malaysia convenience store isnt convenience at all. hypemarket is more convenience than convenience store.

Positive about this venture with Family Mart. But still too rich a valuation. Waiting for right time!

Malaysian age profile is average 27. Spending with convenient and style is the way forward.

I am a few years above the so called average age profile. I forgot when was the last time I stop by a convenience shop to buy something. Probably end of last year, that was because it was middle of the nite (all shopping complex closed) and I wanted some extra few cans of beer. Else, I wouldn't pay 20% extra for the same item I can get elsewhere

it depends, for me to wait for the long queue in hypermarket, i rather go convenience store. Like 99 speedmart, good price and fast.

Posted by iloveshare128 > 2016-07-04 09:37 | Report Abuse

yes, Family Mart is coming to town... i hate 7-11 so much due to their expensive pricing and based on my experience travelling in Thailand (a lot of Family Mart convenience stores there), Family Mart is way cheaper than 7-11... Vincent Tan, I hope your 7-11 will go bankrupt on day... haha...

Posted by iloveshare128 > 2016-07-04 09:38 | Report Abuse

Melvin has got a point there... 00 speedmart is cheap and a lot of time even cheaper than Giant, Tesco, etc...

Posted by iloveshare128 > 2016-07-04 09:38 | Report Abuse

typo.. should be 99 Speedmart

Posted by iloveshare128 > 2016-08-17 13:15 | Report Abuse

nice analysis... yeah, i agree that family mart will not contribute significantly to QL in near term, due to the gestation period for the first few years... but in long run, it can bring positive impact to the group... i am still holding the shares tight and won't be selling any as I foresee that the growth is steady and promising....

family mart will be the 3rd turbo engine for QL after its marine product and integrated livestock products... but in short term (gestation period), earning may not be too much. for mid to long term, it will definitely boost the revenue and profit... so i decided to still keep my QL shares...

With all the expansion news and new business venture, QL 3 Years CAGR growth had nearly grind to a halt. With market expectation so high (PE 30+), just wondering when the news going to turn into reality.

I decided to sell all of my shares. I think moving forward, QL margin will be squeezed. Competition is very heavy and they are attempting to move further downstream, which is even more congested.

Both its growth (~10% CAGR) and dividend yield (1.29%) does not justified for such a high valuation at 34x PE.
