John1234 Someone has been going around almost all glove threads to "ridicule" the glove counters!!!

Why??? "爱之深,责之切"!!! I think he must have had so much intense love for glove counters until he has grown over-possessed with his ridicules!!!

Perhaps, he could change his name to "Glovesfinder", hahaha!!!

More analyst cut topglove tp to RM2.60;

https://focusmalaysia.my/analysts-slash-top-gloves-target-price-amid-average-selling-price-decline/

i think this is good for those who didn't have any share yet in glove stock & thinking on having one, but only for a very strong fundamental company like TG

but this tp slashing for giant glove player does not spell good for laggard like rubberex..no wonder rubberex did share buy back..but i doubt this will do any good for the share price

I fully endorse Rubberex's share buyback yesterday, the buyback price is BELOW its NTA per share(as at last quarter's report) and it is also in line with Ong Choo Meng's MGO-triggered offer price of RM 1.80 per share(before xb of 2 for 1) last year.

In terms of share buyback, smaller glove company like Rubberex appears to be taking a relatively prudent approach. This contrasts greatly to Top Glove's share buybacks last year and this year, at market prices so much higher(ranging from RM 6+ to RM 8+ per share?) than the current market price of RM 2.81.

https://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/top-glove-resumes-stock-buyback-spending-rm4927m-purchase-808m-shares

If an industry-outsider like keown83 can see a falling or normalising ASP coming, why couldn't Top Glove management see it coming and do the share buyback at much cheaper prices now?

In fact, shorties love to short big4(Top Glove ranks 2nd as at 17/09/2021) for reasons obvious to them. I feel their much higher NTAs per share could be a valid reason.

@John1234 "If an industry-outsider like keown83 can see a falling or normalising ASP coming, why couldn't Top Glove management see it coming and do the share buyback at much cheaper prices now?"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

different company have different view on share buy back strategy where they can have different reason on why they bought back their own share..u can't expect all company to have the same view, the same strategy & the same reason on why they did it

topglove did there done that, serbadk did there done that..but still the price plummeted like nobody care

there're two mistakes one can never repeat else will always losing their money;
1. thinking all share buy back is the same & all will translated into price uptrend movement
2. thinking covid will be here to stay where the situation will be like last year & that will make glove sector rally will do comeback soon

vaccination rate, global economy recovering, a lot of glove small players emerged worldwide, completed expansion of existing giant producers with 100% full force production, ASP keep declining, all these is the red alert to glove sector

the sentiment needs to be cool down 1st until economy start to become normal, then glove giant will have their time again to shine due to their strong fundamental..but the same can't be said towards laggards including rubberex..only time will tell how sustainable their expansion of production line is for the next 5 years to come

keown83, history has told me that Top Glove had made fairly unwise share buyback decisions(basing on share buyback prices) in the past year. There is no need to argue on this.

If you are so bullish on Top Glove, then you can buy to support Top Glove. I have no issue with that.

John1234 hi long time did not chat with you! Finally want to share with you i bought my second tranch of Rubberex @60 cents. It coincides with what company willing to buy back and MGO offer price last year.

Not the bottom but happy with my entry. My average now is 68 cents now. I find it reasonable although still in loss position. Glad to see you are still around sharing. Hope you will earn lots of money.

Let’s see where we are with our slightly higher risk investment here in 3 years time!

neutralist, glad to hear from you. Currently, I am in no hurry to add up more, until I see more clarity in this gloves sector and the corporate development. Anyway, I have revealed my main reason for holding on to my left-over portion of Rubberex shares.

In such uncertain times, it is good to preserve cash for any good bargain, should it present itself.

SBB should be used selectively when the company perceives its share price undervalued, eg when its share price is trading below its NTA per share or fair value. If the company continues to use SBB to push up the share price, then investors would be wondering if the company is more interested in its core business or trading its shares.

Kingbeast, I would say Rubberex has certain inherent strength as a 2nd tier glove company.

Foker had initially run down hard on Rubberex when he first appeared on this thread. But look at his milder tone after he did his research on the company and came up with his blog essay, he became more restrained!
https://klse.i3investor.com/blogs/the_inquisitor/2021-09-10-story-h1571471306-How_will_a_small_glovemaker_fare_in_times_of_oversupply.jsp

Market has a pricing mechanism for each and every stock. There is always a reason why we pay 59.5 sen for each Rubberex share vs RM 2.67 for each Top Glove share. So, the prevailing share price would roughly indicate how much the company is worth in normal circumstances.

I can see that you are already investing in Top Glove, then you should stay that way. Do not get overly exposed to any one particular sector!

Rubberex has lots of cash to do SBB and will probably go on buying back shares everyday until price goes above 80 sen at least. Short sellers gonna incur huge losses if they don't cover their short position.

SBB done at a price below NTA will enhance the NTA for the remaining shareholders. The BOD/Management was very patient waiting for the price to drop to below 60 sen before starting to do the SBB. As the Company has lots of cash it can do the SBB in the sustainable manner, buying at 6-8 million shares daily. The Company can buy up to slightly above 90 million shares. A sustainable SBB would mean price will tend upwards. Margin calls will ease, forced selling will ease, short sellers will have to cover their short position.

the signal is clear; demand are dropping, worldwide player's production were ramping up, & there's no turning back
yes, there will be a dead cat bounce, but that's all & that's it, it will only be dead cat bounce..it will not going to be like last year's super rally

short selling end is only an event that stop the huge dropping, but it didn't necessarily mean that super rally is on the way next

@Kingbeast soon the ASP will be lower until the profit margin will be quite thin for those small player..soon this business will be a cutthroat business, so only those who have the best product, the bigger footprint, the most recognised that will survived..but all those small players will soon perished gradually just as good as demand fading away..US & Europe might avoid China's glove due to various reason so their options will be Malaysia as Malaysia have been the major producer & keep maintaining the product's quality over China option..but only those who have access to US & Europe market will survive the most while China producer might entering 3rd world market for cheaper glove market & that is where our laggard producer will have to play too..rubberex might have some access to Europr through their Spain branch but i don't think they can cater a huge demand as Rubberex didn't even expand their network there

From the way we look at it, keown83 must have done a lot of homework on the gloves sector since the Covid-19 pandemic of last year. So, there is no doubt that he would have been one of those that were riding on the super bull run of last year, much like skcm2017(with a 7-digit profit gain), but probably with a much lower gain.

Well, that was in the past and investors nowadays are fully aware that they could not expect any supernormal profit from any glove company this year or beyond, until the next pandemic strikes.

Coming back to the subject of SBB, it just goes to illustrate the concept of "cash is king during depressed times". While I may not feel it is a good idea to go full scale on SBB to fight against shorties or the Rubberex operator, it does enhance the shareholders' value to the extent that the share price does not fall too much lower. This could also give any existing shareholder a choice to exit the counter at a much higher market price, if deemed necessary.

Comfort is just another glove counter where its current market price is trading at below its NTA per share(as at last quarter's report). Some of the "dividend" investors got very unhappy with its 2 sen interim dividend announcement and the share price just drifted lower without support from SBB currently.

My reply is simply focussed on the impact of SBB on a company's share price. It should not be construed as an endorsement to buy or sell on Rubberex. Please do your own homework.
