The company said the acquisition — funded entirely via internally-generated funds — represents an opportunity for BAuto to acquire a strategic controlling stake in BAASB which holds the distributorship of renowned Peugeot marque vehicles in Malaysia and facilitate the consolidation of BAASB’s results into the BAuto Group.

The issue is this company has good earnings but the substantial shareholders and short sellers do not want it to go up. It is virtually a waste of time and money to buy Bermaz Auto. Foreign investors have been reducing their stakes for a long time

I've read many articles, they say the CEO and boards are capable, no doubt about it, but the question is, BAuto is successful because of Mazda or Mazda is successful because they came out new sexier cars? I dont see myself buying Korean cars in the near future, I've asked a few people and everybody's first choice is a Japanese car, M20 families of course.

So, the question is, can they repeat their Mazda success with KIA? I doubt so. Thais and Indonesians are into Japanese cars. This is a generation mindset, which will be hard to change, unless for some unknown reason the Japanese failed to update their cars and got eaten up by EV, which the Chinese car makers are more likely to dominate compared to the Koreans.

If they choose to assemble a Chinese EV, then I think it is worth buying. Chinese EV for SEA region. KIA for SEA? I think cannot lah....

Say current mazda sales is 100mil, I don’t mind additional 5-10mil profit from KIA.

JJchan, if I am not mistaken, they are entering a JV with KIA to assemble cars for KIA for SEA region. This is a game changer, question is, will they succeed in changing the minds of Aseans? I think hard... with Thailand and Indonesia being 2 of the biggest car market and Singapore as the most lucrative.... all 3 have 101% faith in Japanese cars.

BAuto is not going to sell KIA until they are able to change the mentality of the people in this region. This is a mentality problem, not an economic problem.

Look danny, u hv any problem if Bauto a found to make some small profit even by selling or fixing bicycle? For some reason, u made KIA JV as game changer as if KIA don't do well, it would significantly affect Mazda's and BAuto's performance. That's where u are wrong.

The focus is Mazda sales and profit are getting strong and stronger. And now, they are trying to make even more money by selling KIA.

It's not a question if KIA would be as good as Mazda..Say if selling Mazda alone puts BAuto at RM2. And with KIA 25% as good as Mazda, that would put Bauto at RM2.50. Anything from KIA is a BONUS, not a game changer like you say. U get that right?

Besides, MCO doesn't really affect BAuto's sale.

If u take selling guitar for example. Say average sales is 8K a month. MCO two months. By the follow month where MCO is lifted, the sales becomes 24K a month.

Those who hv a capability(bank reduce interest) and set their mind to buy Mazda, will do it anyway.
Just a matter of sooner or later.

MCO only affects F&B. Cos, if ppl don't buy ur nasi lemak or go out buy ur beer, they would be eating maggi mee and drinking milo at home. U can't delay ur 60 days of nasi lemak and 8 weekend of beer to eat and drink them one shot right

I'm thinking what's the research house strategy to write on BAuto QR this time.

It's either within expectation, full MCO impacts earning or prospect so so. Especially from Kenanga and CIMB. C12 and C16 expiring. Next is C15 and C18 from Ambank and CIMB again. Either they gonna write that themselves or via proxy research house.

If earnings maintained, price should go above pre-covid price of RM2.60. Just a matter of time.
