“Hello Mr Sifu KC Chong .... from New Zealand ?
Your article very Keng , very analytical. I have learnt a lot reading this article of yours.
Then got worried and sold my V.S Share then share price moved up strongly.
Today Q2 result announced, not what you have expected, you must be disappointed
How much you charge ah to learn something from you ?
Please tell me so that I can subscribe to your tips”

Dear moneyface88. Thanks for your greeting. I am very fine. It is rather cold these few days here. And thanks but no thanks for your compliment on calling me “Sifu” as few call me that as I have never encouraged anyone to call me that. And also thanks for your “compliments” on my articles. I am glad that you “have learnt a lot reading this article of yours (mine)”. Let me make some assessment of what you have learned from my articles, just like I do assessment on those participants of my course.

  1. You got worried from my article? So why did you get worried, and about what that I have mentioned? Please elaborate so that others also can learn like you do.
  2. You have sold your VS shares? So sad, but why? Which part of my article tells you to sell?
  3. Why was the result of this quarter not as expected by me? What was my expectation that you learned from my articles? And what was your expectation before the results? Surely you must have some expectations as you were a shareholder of VS. Please share in details.
  4. Did I make any forecast of its results, and what was my forecast that you have read?
  5. Why must I be disappointed when the results are seemingly good? I disappointed because you have sold your VS share, and that you could not ride on the rise of VS share price? Or that I have short sold VS share that its share price will rally because of the “great” result?

Is there anything else that you do not understand what I wrote about in my articles?

Thanks for your enquiry on my course. I am obliged to give you some information here since you asked. I charge cheap cheap, the cost of a teh tarik and a roti canai a day for the course like what one participant posted in i3investor below, because I am not a moneyface person. Somehow teaching finance and investment has become a passion of mine. But sorry I don’t give tips, never because I don’t have tips. I do write about the performance of companies in the course, but they are not tips, but just about the business of the company, whether the company has a good business, what is defined as good or bad, and if the price is cheap, and why cheap and not cheap.

For a few hundred Ringgit for an eight month course, you learn about the language of business, i.e. how to read and interpret and analyse financial statements; the Income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statements. You learn about valuation, all kinds of valuations, relative valuation and absolute valuation methods, not just if the company makes profit, and if the profit will grow the next quarter, or some other predictions as it was shown that it failed, and failed badly.

http://klse.i3investor.com/blogs/kcchongnz/78742.jsp

Participants are taught how to read and interpret behind the numbers, just like the various articles I have written in i3investor. Learning a language is not just learning A, B, C, and learning maths is not just additions and subtractions, neither do you need to learn or know about stochastic calculus, algebraic Geometry, etc.. Oh yeah, you don’t just learn and follow the numbers blindly. With the knowledge, you would be able to read behind the numbers of VS financial reports. Many of my course participants actually ended up with their own independent and even better thinking and analysis after the course. They picked what works for them. Many of them are confident (none overconfident) regular contributors in i3investors now, in their own right.

In the course, you learn about various fundamental value investing strategies; all from the proven long successful records of really super investors in the world; Warren Buffett, Howard Marks, Seth Klarman, Walter Schloss, Joel Greenblatt, Mohnish Pabrai, ColdEye, and numerous others. Can you name me anyone using other strategies as successful as them? But sorry I don’t teach the investing strategies of idol worshipping, the strategy of hope, chasing rumours, hypes and fads, share price prediction and forecasting. I am sure you can learn these from somewhere else.

You learn how to find good companies and invest safely at reasonable or even cheap price, or mediocre companies selling at cheap price. Both of them will yield good results for you in the long term. However, the more important thing you learn is how to avoid falling into the traps in investing, which is more important as it is a jungle out there in Bursa.

http://klse.i3investor.com/blogs/kcchongnz/66355.jsp

http://klse.i3investor.com/blogs/kcchongnz/67199.jsp

Some other important things you learn in the course are the psychological aspects of investing, or behavioural finance, overconfidence, arrogance, greed and fear, anchoring, confirmation bias, idol worshipping, etc. The teaching of Charles Munger, Howard Marks etc. are particular useful and their thoughts are discussed.

You also learn how to do financial planning here, not only what you learn on the calculations parts, but using the flexible annual cash flows methods. After the course, you would be able to do analysis on how you can save money for the retirement and other goals you want, how to analyse a financial product such as annuity, how to calculate your monthly housing loan obligations, how your growing EPF and saving will grow to at your retirement etc.

Often investors do not know the important concepts of time value of money, what real return is, and how to calculate the compounded annual return, or growth, how to evaluate the return of their investments such as their stocks, unit trusts, property investment etc. and compared with alternative investments to make a good judgment. These are all taught here.

After the eight month course is completed, you are still eligible to continue learning from my blog, revising the learning materials, ask me questions on finance and investing, totally free of charge. Imagine, all these just for a teh tarik and roti canai a day, for just eight months, and need not to pay me anything else after that for continued learning, for free.

Well moneyface, if you are interested, and think this is useful for you, please contact me at the email address below.

ckc14invest@gmail.com

A reminder again. There is no tips in this course, no predictions, nor any forecast of share prices. I only hope to get tips from you after you have finished this course. Also this course is not the end, but it provides a foundation for you to embark on fundamental investing in a proper and structured manner. Learning is a continuous endeavour.

The course is starting. There are still some places available. After this course, most likely, I won’t be doing this way again having to put in so much effort. I will reserve some time for myself to travelling and golfing then.

Many have attended this course, but the number of people who are interested in this knowledge in i3investors is dwindling. That is precisely why fundamental value investing still works and not arbitraged away.

Hi All
I normally do not comment much now a day. Why because i have humbled myself and have start looking at the reality of myself. I have been trading for last 25 years
and i look at where I am today. I did not even make more than RM 5 ringit in other Is in negative stage of return -1000% . I ask myself why ?

The answers is
Failure to invest in myself in especially "investment knowledge".

Before I continue ... I must say I have high respect for both Mr Koon & KC Chong
and others who has diligently contributed to I3investor.

After I check the reality myself ... I began to focus on the guru out there whom I can learns.

But the two must respected guru I know now is Mr Koon and KC Chong

When KC Chong offers to teach us (me) for just a mamak nasi lemak and one teh price a day... I almost fall down off my chair. I have seek around and ask for the same teaching or guidance how much I will have to pay ? The price range from RM400 to RM2999 for two days course ok plus weekend just say 5 days course.

I am with him now for one month and the PDF teaching he sent us with assignment which I always fail to submit is so enriching. Every weeks I learns new thing and I will learns this for next 7 months before I graduate.

Thank i3investor that all of you have in today investment world.
Back then all we have is to hear form our remisier or friends of our friends of our friends do not know how many downline up about this shares that will go up soon.

Anything about TA or FA .... none ... the advise is just buy or else don;t ask me for tips anymore ok ?????. So we just buy and hope and love and promote the stock like every one else though mouth .... Afters 25 years ... the habit never change.
so there it is -1000% lost.

To cut the story short....

INVEST IN YOURSELF while you still can....

I am not promoting KC.. I am saying do not be like me .. naive and still searching .. I hope I can learns from a good guru here.... Now I have shown you and do not say I did not tell you.

All the best.

Atarah

No one can be 100% correct in stock calls no matter what method, or combination of methods used. But you can improve the % of wins if you are skills proficient. In my book, both KC and OTB have their heart in the right place and that is what matters the most. They are not pretenders or trumpet blowers and do not carry a hidden agenda unlike one other self confessed super investor in I3.

I am a silent reader of 13invest. I give my comment once a while when the need arises to say something practical. I must humbly thank both Messrs OTB and KC for their contributions in this forum. I believe they are doing a great job which is free of charge. Just be thankful we have these gentlemen here to make our investment interesting. At the end of the day, investment is at our own discretion. Once cannot follow blindly what others recommend or say. We are the captain of our sail.

Thanks for your concern. But do you think I should get upset by feedback like these?

I was called up by a company which provide TA and FA teaching in the market, this company charged the fee > Rm 10,000 for the full course.
Mr Ooi, since you are a good friend of KC Chong, please tell him not to spoilt the market to charge so cheap in his course.
Likewise, Mr Ooi, you also should not spoilt the market too.
KC Chong and I are doing a service to investing public for a small fee, invest with a special skill to win consistently in KLSE years after years.

Yes. agree. when it was RM 4. one analyst from New Zealand said that V.S is no brainer investment and cheap cheap. He was right lah. New Zealand Analyst understand KLSE market very well

Mr Moneyface88,

You see you are like someone who uses a driver in a golf game and put in a hole in one(or your caddy could have placed that ball into the hole for you because you just can't see the hole from afar) in a 120m par three. You go shouting everywhere telling people you are so good doing that, in every gathering you go, and every time you have a chance.

When I play golf in Malaysia, I normally get a few pars, one or two double bogeys and seldom a triple bogey, and that will be a good round of golf for me. Yes, I am just an ordinary but keen golfer. When I play in New Zealand in summer, my scores is even better. During winter my score will not be good, but still is ok and not too far away.

You see when you have the fundamentals in golf, your score don't really vary that much.

I have never even seen you "playing golf", but just shouting how good you are, and worse, you go around mocking other golfers, again and again.
