after all, china flush with cash, no problem
2018-05-29 13:35 | Report Abuse
think China would be willing to nego, they don't mind losing money as long as project can go on.

GST removed, revenue will be lost,
One of the main reason BN lost bcoz their policies or way they do things increase cost of living. One of it is properties went up a lot, if you claim HSR increase lands/property a lot, if Harapan continue supporting it, they will be booted as well.
2018-05-29 12:45 | Report Abuse
hush77 is right, there are properties/land in jhr which have been jacked up too. So they will go down too.

dont be surprised by mark up cost of projects, if u look at the auditor general report, there are always lots of procurements which are double or more of the actual cost.
2018-05-29 11:48 | Report Abuse
well calvin, i think it may have to do with whether if the previous govt had marked up cost of these projects. There's a saying/rumour about a Mr 40%
2018-05-29 10:43 | Report Abuse
Calvin, what would happened to properties in Jurong East now that HSR is cancelled

and of course an increase in population coupled with good economic fundamental in future will make it more affordable to implement such projects. So currently , i think priority of harapan should be on strengthen the fundamental of the country and developing human capital
2018-05-29 10:40 | Report Abuse
the key issues with the ecrl and hsr is the cost of financing it. Ticket not enough to cover bcoz locals can't afford it or have alternatives.
Perhaps I would say that these projects are not feasible as of now but maybe in the future when the country get more developed, ppl's spending power increases, then currency goes up, then it may be more affordable. Of coz if we look at HSR, Singapore only developed about i think 15km of tracks, while our side developed i think about 300km. So the cost to singapore is much much lower than our side, Singapore definitely stand to gain more because their cost is low and their currency is X3 ours, so definitely on average they can afford the HSR ticket fees more than us locals.
2018-05-29 10:34 | Report Abuse
so those who so support the project, you want to foot the bill for the big project? Locals can't afford the tickets, so that means is a losing money venture, of course there are spilling effect from the projects, BUT the point is who is going to pay to service the debt from the tickes? Is the govt bcoz ticket fees won't be able to cover it. So if govt no money to service debt or need to service the debt, it means that subsidies for rakyats will have to be reduced OR new taxes will have to be introduced

if u buy sell need to tax, then to be fair, u lose money, there need to be tax relief . As for if u no job, but buy sells shares, then u r taxable, i think that is very unfair. A person who is employed can buy sell shares daily too. This is discrimination against the unemployed. The law need to be clear, no 2 set rules, one for the employed and one for the unemployed.

well, i sell mrcb on the eve of the election. Not bcoz i feel mrcb will fall or bcoz harapan would win but rather bcoz when i do prayer, i need faith, if i say i support i want harapan to win but at same time i'm holding mrcb, so that faith wont be strong, so i decided to throw out mrcb even if losing money.

i think our govt can renego and get very good terms from china. China has got a strategic plan, the what belt blah blah blah, they don't look at one part, they look at the whole project. Beside, I heard china not on good term with singapore
