Back to where it belongs...RM7+

2Q GDP was robust, amidst low base effect. But still, growth is projected at the upper range bound of 6.8%. Banks are the best proxy for economic growth. Inflation seems to peak in the US but rising rates will benefit Banks generally on a net effect basis. Previous credit provisioning will see a reversal and thus boost the bottom line. With higher profit, expects higher dividends.

Furthermore, TNG Digital is doing well. Valuations are still reasonable.

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 23 — After more than four years of being on trial for misappropriating funds from SRC International Sdn Bhd and losing his final appeal against his conviction today, former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was seen departing the High Court to begin his 12-year-jail sentence.

The decision today marks a historic moment for Malaysian politics as the country will witness for the first time a former prime minister sent to prison.

"I’m sorry,” were his last words heard when he met with his supporters at the rear entrance of the Palace of Justice…..

After 3 years pandemic already end,
next year onwards surely is the years of recovery and economy start booming time !

Like previously economy downturn period of:

1)Crisis 1986-1990 start booming 1993 to 1997

2)Crisis 1997-2000 start booming 2003 to 2006

3)Crisis 2006-2010 start booming 2013 to 2016

4)Crisis 2016-2022 start booming 2023 to 2027

So, our economy and KLSE will be spike up like mad start from year 2023 which is next year and i predict our KLSE this round of bull run start 2023 will hit it’s record high of around 2,000 points !

SINGAPORE/HONG KONG (Sept 4): As global equities struggle after the Federal Reserve's (Fed) latest hawkish rhetoric, Southeast Asia's growth outlook is making the region an investor favourite.

Most of the region's biggest economies are expected to grow at least 5% this year, according to estimates compiled by Bloomberg, with the scrapping of pandemic-era restrictions offering a key boost.

Malaysia more than doubled its annual target for tourists following an uptick in recent months, while Thailand expects to reap in US$11 billion (RM49.33 billion) from a surge in foreign visitors in the second half.

The composition of Southeast Asia's equity benchmarks — low tech weighting and relatively high ratio of bank shares — is also favourable in a rising global interest-rate environment.

KUALA LUMPUR: At the conclusion of its monetary policy committee (MPC) meeting, Bank Negara increased the overnight policy rate by 25 basis points (bps) to 2.5%, in line with market expectations.
In a statement, it said it raised the ceiling and floor rate of the corridor of the OPR to 2.75% and 2.25% respectively.

This is the central bank's third consecutive rate hike, bringing the total increase in the OPR to 75bps so far this year.
"At the current OPR level, the stance of monetary policy continues to remain accommodative and supportive of economic growth.

"The MPC is not on any pre-set course and will continue to assess evolving conditions and their implications on the overall outlook to domestic inflation and growth," said Bank Negara…..

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 18 — Former finance minister Lim Guan Eng has called on the government to protect the people and not banks’ profits.

The DAP lawmaker said the government should instead demand that banks share their “good fortune” following the rise in the overnight policy rate (OPR).

Fed rate hike: US interest rates hit 14-year high in inflation battle
* By Natalie Sherman
* Business reporter, New York
21 September 2022, 19:01 BST
https://www.bbc.com/news/business-62973376.amp

The US central bank has pushed interest rates to the highest level in almost 15 years as it fights to rein in soaring prices in the world's largest economy.
The Federal Reserve announced it was raising its key rate by another 0.75 percentage points, lifting the target range to 3% to 3.25%.
Borrowing costs are expected to climb more - and remain high, the bank said.
The move comes despite mounting concern that the cost of controlling inflation could be a harsh economic downturn…

Elsewhere in Southeast Asia, Singapore has a “large representation” of companies — such as banks — that benefit from rising yields, said Raychaudhuri, adding that the country and India, Indonesia and Malaysia are “pockets of safety.”

Timothy Moe, chief Asia-Pacific equity strategist at Goldman Sachs, said there are three positive drivers for Southeast Asian markets.

Those include their delayed recovery from Covid, the emergence of a digital or “new” economy, and rising interest rates.

“Asean markets typically have a very high exposure to banks, and banks were not the place to be the last 10 years,” he told CNBC’s “Street Signs Asia” on Tuesday. “But they are now, with the interest rate cycle turning, and so that’s been a very significant tailwind for the Asean markets.”

Given the looming global downturn and political uncertainty on the local front, economists believe the stability of a new administration will augur well for the stock market.

Minority Shareholder Watch Group (MSWG) chief executive officer Devanesan Evanson said the stock markets prefer certainty and predictability.

Devanesan said this is because the markets tend to discount this uncertainty through stock prices.

NEW YORK (Oct 14): It’s hard to be sympathetic when bank bosses effectively complain that their businesses are too safe and sound, and that customers are too conservative. Yet for the big US lenders who reported third-quarter earnings on Friday, that’s the reality. JPMorgan, Wells Fargo and Citigroup have what might be thought of as first-world problems.

Banks, then, are not the likely source of the next financial crisis. But that just means the real systemic threats lurk out of sight. Britain’s recent pension-fund margin call mini-crisis read more was an example of risk that financial regulators didn’t see coming, because they weren’t looking in the right place. The quest for sturdy and thoroughly scrutinized banks has pushed hazardous behaviour into the shadows. That makes the lenders’ solid balance sheets feel like less of a victory.

KUALA LUMPUR: Higher interest rates and a firm economic recovery are likely to enhance Malaysian banks' revenue and profitability prospects, according to Fitch Ratings.

Credit impairments, however, were likely to rise but remain manageable, the firm added.

"These factors drove our recent revision of the operating environment score for the Malaysian banking sector to its pre-pandemic level of 'bbb+', from 'bbb', with a stable outlook," Fitch said in a report today.
